PLFXpert 0 #1 February 20, 2008 NeuroSky, Inc. has recently unveiled a new "mind-reading device". Imagine the possibilities. The medical & psychological possibilities, alone, are exciting! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
LisaM 0 #2 February 20, 2008 Call Mythbusters. Saw the mind-control episode last night; they would do great testing it! ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder?
Lindercles 0 #3 February 20, 2008 Mind reading devices have existed for thousands of years. They're called mothers!

Jewels 0 #5 February 20, 2008 Those headsets remind me of an old Star Trek episode where there was some addictive video game everyone was playing. I mean, um, hypothetically . . . I think someone told me about it . . . or something. (My inner geek isn't really THAT big, is it?)TPM Sister #
Lindercles 0 #6 February 20, 2008 Yeah, hypothetically they totally look like that game Wesley got addicted to. Hypothetically.

Andrewwhyte 1 #11 February 20, 2008 Quote Yeah, hypothetically they totally look like that game Wesley got addicted to. Hypothetically. Wow, Star Trek Geeks. How uncool is that? As William Shatner said at the Star Trek convention, "You people need to get a life!" BTW Wesley was the only one who didn't get addicted.

Muenkel 0 #13 February 20, 2008 I feel so left out. The only episode of Star Trek I think I ever watched was the one with the tribbles. _________________________________________ Chris
PLFXpert 0 #14 February 20, 2008 Quote Those headsets remind me of an old Star Trek episode where there was some addictive video game everyone was playing. I mean, um, hypothetically My father is/was a royal fan. Frankly, I don't remember the video game you speak of but, I LOVED the hole-in-the-wall-thingie where they could ask for whatever food they wanted and it magically appeared already made for them. I'm still waiting for that particular invention, but you guys go on and be happy with your video-game thingie. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. Jewels 0 #15 February 20, 2008 I should have been specific. It was Star Trek The Next Generation, so unless you watched that one, this reference is meaningless. (Well, and if you watched STNG but don't remember that episode, anyway, it's still meaningless.)TPM Sister #

PLFXpert 0 #19 February 20, 2008 You've been a bad boy. OK, seriously people--no comments on my links? Some are hoping the technology will be beneficial to autistic children. Just the idea of that makes me anxious (in a good way). At the risk of sounding like a crazy-fool, I've always believed it is/was the telepathic connection between various animals and children that allow the kids to express themselves more effectively when being exposed to dolphins, horses, etc. I really don't care much about the video-game aspect, but the possibilities in other arenas are very intriguing to me. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
lawrocket 3 #20 February 21, 2008 Women would get SOOOOOOOO much fewer drinks bought for them if guys knew they stood no chance. My wife is hotter than your wife.
Jewels 0 #21 February 21, 2008 The possibilities are interesting, but it sounds like there's a long way to go before those possibilities fall into place, if they can even do them effectively at all. It sounds like a "time will tell" situation, but you're right--it's exciting to think that new avenues could be opening with this. On the other hand, the old curmudgeon in me is still a little bit leery and kind of uncomfortable with how much that kind of technology might reveal about what's going on inside my head. Even if it's just reading anxiety levels, there's a part of me that feels like that's the last realm of privacy we have. I know it's not REALLY mind reading, but somehow I still feel like I want to be able to guard those things.TPM Sister #

PLFXpert 0 #23 February 21, 2008 I agree--but it's not like you have to wear the headset-thingie all the time, you know. Frankly it's "the other" technology that scares me most. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
