How the blind...

Recommended Posts

To spot the same way most people do at large dropzones, he could either have his dog watch for the green light, or wait for 15-to idiots to yell "get out!" Heck, they're not watching the spot, so it would be no difference for him... [/rant]

How do blind skydivers know when to pull?

When the leash goes slack.

:D I know, it's old....

Actually, its' "how do they know when to flare for landing..." "When the leash goes limp". (just ask John Flemming. :)

I've seen it worded both ways. :P

Edited to add: Also the other blind skydiver, whose name escapes my mind at the moment had his sig line as "flare when you hear the crickets". :D

Lori - Great article, but one of Dan Rossi's greatest skydiving achievements was getting his CRW 4 stack. Best of all, he wasn't part of the base/pin. He docked 3rd. I was his seeing eye CRW dog on that jump. Dan actually made the dock with a bit of verbal coaching. Dan is incredible, as is John Fleming. I was on the ground radio when John had one of his reserve rides. John handled it with ease with just a bit of coaching from the ground.
