happythoughts 0 #1 February 25, 2008 Fox story A guy gets fired for posting a Dilbert comic. In most place that I work, everyone has 3 or 4 Dilbert comics on their walls. The comic compares the management to drunken lemurs. What kind of idiot fires someone for a comic ? Now, guess what? Scott Adams is making the management a subject of his comic strip. Dilbert Now the comic strip calls them a "humorless stain on the soul of humanity". They should have lived with "drunken lemurs". Peoples jobs are are part of their life. They are just a little too important to get your panties in a twist and fire someone over a comic. The guy was apparently quite right. If they were sensitive about their image before, life is about to suck. The Fox story and the comic series are now a national event for a couple of weeks. iluvtofly 0 #2 February 25, 2008 Wow...so glad I don't work there. I think I'd shoot myself if my boss didn't have a sense of humor. I mean there are days when he can be a royal asshole but every one has those days. You know a boss is cool when you work in EMS and he tells you, "If I ever get a call at the dropzone and you're the one that's hurt I'm just going to stand and laugh at you." with a smile on his face. He thinks I'm nuts for skydiving but at the same time he appreciates the fact that it makes me happy so he's cool with it.
happythoughts 0 #3 February 25, 2008 It is an abnormal reaction. Most managers either have a sense of humor. This is one of those red flags that should tell the upper management that this person has personal issues. I would question the value of his other decision-making skills. ryoder 1,590 #12 February 25, 2008 Ever see the episode of "News Radio" where the office dumb guy discovered Dilbert? That was great! Especially when Scott Adams made an appearance in the show without identifying who he was. You had to know him by sight to get the joke. Gawain 0 #14 February 25, 2008 I wonder if Iowa is an "at will" employment state. If not, then I would use some of my new-found free time being a real legal pain the side of that former employer (especially now that the ALJ ruled it was an error - for benefits anyway). If I had a business in the area, I'd hire the guy immediately, and make a new policy mandating Dilbert comics in the weekly work reading/bulletins.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! From what i remember, all the casino's in Iowa are tribal owned and they can do whatever their council says they can, not just what the state says. Snowwhite 0 #20 February 25, 2008 Well, now all of the people who have talent will have to fix what the people who had time screwed up, art imitates life, or does life imitate art? Some of the casinos in Iowa are on water, those on water are not Indian casinos. I don't know about Catfish Bend, I can't remember if it's on water or not.skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com
