jasonRose 0 #1 March 1, 2008 I love orchids although every time I buy one the bloom lasts about 2 months and then falls off and never blooms again. Is there a trick to get an orchid to re-bloom??? Edit to add: This is really frustrating that I can't get my plant to put out.. Some day I will have the best staff in the world!!!
somethinelse 0 #2 March 1, 2008 Orchid's do not continually bloom. They only bloom seasonally...kinda like how the christmas cactus does. But you really might wanna try orchid fertilizer drops to keep it well fed, so when "it's time" comes around again, it gives you a showy display of blooms. Jewels 0 #3 March 1, 2008 Do you have a phalaenopsis? When I lived in Atlanta, mine would sprout new blossoms even as the old ones were dying. In Colorado, it's a little harder. I have an orchid at my office that gets bright but indirect light, and I mist it a couple of times a week. It blooms repeatedly for me. I have two others at home that don't get the same quality of light and they just won't bloom again. Just be careful with the sun, as you can burn the leaves.TPM Sister #

fireballgrl 0 #5 March 2, 2008 Try this site: http://www.beautifulorchids.com/orchids/orchid_care_tips/reblooming/reblooming.html You need to identify what species you have and then follow the directions for each family. My sweet boyfriend sent me a beautiful white Japanese phalaenopsis two months ago and it gets misted daily and watered once or twice a week. It also gets very bright indirect light from a picture window across the room. Orchids enjoy humidity so misting can help achieve that.
