I have four Energizer AA rechargeable batteries at 2200mAh each. They charge in about 12 minutes. I use them in my camera and they work pretty well. I couldn't even find their rechargeable D cell on their web-site.

Not a lot of capacity difference between some of the AA's and the D's.
