wmw999 2,560 #1 March 1, 2008 I'm looking for a birthday present for my 14-year-old nephew; something in the above-mentioned category. Apparently he spends lots and lots of time drawing, particularly cartoon characters, and his folks said that a software package that he could play with would be good. He's not a serious computerhead, so it should be reasonably intuitive. Ideas? My computer drawing is limited to using hte mouse in MS Paint... Thanks Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. This probably won't help you if you're talking PC, but I have "Comic Life" on my Mac and my nephew (who's 11) LOVES it. It allows him to create an actual comic book strip and add pictures and captions and print the book. I walked him (well, I walked MYSELF through it with him there) the first time and he picked it up right away. But if he's not on a Mac, you might want to consider being the "cool" aunt and get him one! 'Shell

MikeJD 0 #5 March 3, 2008 Just to endorse what Sarah said, make sure you include a graphics tablet. Not cheap, but it's a hundred times better than trying to use the mouse. Wacom are pretty much universally agreed to make the best tablets.
