Paying it forward

Recommended Posts

I am looking at getting a new altimiter from the guys at free fall accessories. They are really nice and have a warrenty and such and only cost a little more than an alti3. So I was thinking what to do with my old altimeter. I could sell it, and I am sure it would sell pretty quickly, but I know what it is like to be a very broke new skydiver. I am not rick, but I have a nice paycheck so I figure I'd splurge. Then I figure I'll donate my old alti to some broke low time jumper. I figure I'll send it to be calibrated just so that it is in tip top condition for whomeve is lucky enough to recieve this alti from me. Now the question is, how do I choose who gets it?

How about keeping your eyes peeled on the newbies and granting them the alti as a reward for 'paying it forward' themselves.... like when they help someone out, pitch in and help around the dz, or somehow go above and beyond. Just an idea....

There's a multitude of skydiving milestones you could use. SCR/S, 100th skydive or any myriad of firsts... first four way, first four point four way, etc. Congratulations on passing it forward. It's a good feeling.
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Give each of them 5 seconds to inflict as much pain on you as they can. Video each attempt, post them on here, and let us vote on who gets it.

grab someone just off student status and jump with them. let them borrow your extra alti instead of using the dz's. when he or she tries to give it back after the jump, tell him thank you for the skydive and to keep it. also tell him to remember this when he has a few hundred jumps and his paycheck has increased.

I need an altimeter, I dont have much to pay forward with, so I can offer you or someone else a buddy pass from delta when needed, or I could offer this:

which is a much better deal!!!

Ask the chief instructor -- they're likely to know who's both dedicated and poor.

Auction it off this way:

The person (male or female) who can get you the most extra altitude on the jumps you make over the weekend, gets the altimeter.

Sunny I don't think that words can describe the awesomeness that is you. Especially when you curse people out.

Ummm hmmmmm we call it "paying it skyward" in the SkyFest world. Do like Keith Laub did last year after buying the 3 SF custom alitimeters in the auction. Give it to an SCR maggot!! We like maggots, they buy beer!!

:)That is what it's all about. Good Great stuff!
Pick a deserving young jumper and pay it skyward. That's what it's all about.

My reality and yours are quite different.
