Beckert 0 #2 March 4, 2008 Thanks for posting that, my father and I used to travel there (he passed away last month) sometimes he would talk, other times just silently cry. Thanks again Terri
Gawain 0 #3 March 4, 2008 I love that Wall. After I had returned from Iraq, one weekend, my sister came to visit while I was at the hospital and we went to some of the memorials. The first one we went to was the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. As she was rolling me down along the wall in a wheel-chair, a lovely older lady, who was a nurse during the war, and was volunteering that day, came strutting up with a big grin, and a loud wale, "Oooooohhhhhh, Welcome Home!" and planted huge hug and a big bright-red-lipstick kiss on my cheek. I was in tears and my poor sister... Your generation has saved mine an untold amount of pain and I will never be able to express my gratitude enough. Brokaw wrote a book about "The Greatest Generation." Yours, is the next in line in my eyes. Thank you for what you've done for me, and my fellows. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Amazon 7 #4 March 4, 2008 I dont think I will ever be able to walk up to that wall....I dont want to see the names of friends who did not come back. There is also a need for a wall that contains the names of those who died there......and did not know it until years later. Just too much sadness with the whole era in my heart . monkycndo 0 #5 March 4, 2008 I visited the Wall in '95. I am not an outwardly emotional person. But I could not help but have a few tears escape my eyes. I spoke with a few of the vets looking for friends names. It was a very moving place. Thanks to all here who have served.50 donations so far. Give it a try.
