are you sure it is salt? I heard an endogastric doc say that the real problem is not having enough acid in your stomach. Usually when you eat alot of grains or breads, then they start fermenting in your stomach. if you take a tablespoon of vinegar, that will increase you stomach acid, reducing indigestion.

I have a friend that swears it works.

Cite? I can't find any LD50 listed for humans in regards to salt. The MSDS for it shows a lowest recorded lethal dose (LDLO) as 1000mg/kg.
