Someone told me it was illegal for small businesses to charge a minimum - which makes sense from a consumer standpoint. I can also see however, how the business wants to charge a minimum. What is the legality on this? Can VISA/MC require "NO MINIMUMS" ? Everyone's been caught by the $25 minimum at the bar - get drunk/buy everyone drinks/or pay cash. However it doesn't comply with the agreement of their merchant account, which is why most big chains don't pull that kind of crap. Probably some country bar in Bumfuck, USA... Yup. Next time you find yourself in Fayetteville, WV (next to the New River Gorge Bridge), hit up a little place called Charlie's Pub. I've never managed to stay conscious long enough to rack up a $25 tab there. My first time in there, I ordered a Red Bull Vodka. Charlie set down a highball glass, threw some ice in, topped it off with vodka and set a Red Bull next to it...$3 please. I think I made it up to $10 that night. As for the dry cleaning, I would've gone back with the money at a later time/date.
