LisaH 0 #2 March 14, 2008 Go see Body Worlds at the California Science Center in Los Angeles. Or, there is Palm Springs in the other direction. Be yourself! MooOOooOoo
ltdiver 3 #3 March 14, 2008 If you're into wonderful wine, take the wine tour through Temecula Wineries. I suggest both Thorton and Wilson Creek wineries (as I've been to both and found their wine absolutely wonderful). If you're looking for something a bit more in the sunshine, you could go south to Sea World in San Diego. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I actually LOVE the body worlds type exhibits, but I've been to a couple in the last year. Is the rest of the science center worth visiting?
hottamaly 1 #5 March 14, 2008 There is a great airplane museum in San Diego as well, near the zoo. Really worth looking into and not too expensive. Oooh ooh... ya gotta go to City Walk. And Venice Beach, and the Santa Monica Pier. I don't venture out East much. Maybe someone else out that way can help.Be yourself! Shotgun 1 #10 March 14, 2008 Balboa Park (in San Diego) is nice. Parking, entrance to the park, and some of the attractions are free. Lots of stuff to do there, and the zoo is right there too. Lots of stuff to do in San Diego and L.A., but the drive to San Diego is generally a lot nicer because the traffic in L.A. is often horrible. (I usually allow 2 1/2 hours to get there, and it's only 70 miles from my house!) The Santa Rosa Plateau is not far from Perris. It's a nature preserve with hiking trails. Not a huge amount to see there, but it's cheap ($2), and the trails are pleasant. Palomar Mountain has hiking trails, an observatory that you can visit, and a really good vegetarian restaurant called Mother's Kitchen. Julian is supposedly a nice place to visit, with a goldmine that you can tour, but I've never been there (though I keep meaning to go check it out). Idyllwild is a neat little mountain town, about an hour or so from Perris. (And you can stop at the Denny's cocktail lounge in Hemet on your way back. ) Palm Springs is also about an hour from Perris. There's a cool tramway there that you can go up the mountain in, and then there are hiking trails at the top.

skybytch 273 #21 March 15, 2008 Climb Mt. San Jacinto. From the west side you can hike out of Idyllwild (free - less than 2 hours from Perris), from the east side you can ride the tram up from Palm Springs (which costs $$ but the view is worth it).
