gjhdiver 0 #2 March 17, 2008 QuoteHas anyone been to Skydive San Francisco? I may be in San Francisco next month and am looking for dropzones (w/ camping) ... any recommendations? Firstly, Skydive San Francisco is about the furthest dropzone away from San Francisco, as it's way up in the Russian River valley at Cloverdale. It's also a Cessna dropzone, more concerned with tandems, not that there's anything wrong with that. They don't have a lot of fun jumpers there as a rule, though that may have changed. Also, call before going up there, as they have been shut on one or more weekends recently because of some issues they have been having with staffing. Byron took on their tandem bookings the weekend before last because they were shut. It's a nice day out to drive up there and take in some wineries, but if you're looking for a little more action and larger planes, Skydance at Davis, Bay Area Skydiving at Byron, and Lodi are all turbine drop zones and closer. There is also Hollister and Skydive Monterey in the south bay, both turbine drop zones. All are driving distance from the city, so you wouldn't need to camp.
