Bolas 5 #5 March 21, 2008 From: http://www.teamfastrax.org/demoFAQ.aspx Q. What does a basic demonstration jump consist of? A. A typical Demonstration jump consists of four jumpers exiting at approximately 5000 feet. At least one of the jumpers will trail a 20 x 400 foot American flag providing a spectacular show of patriotism. The remaining three jumpers trail red, white & blue smoke. I think that's a typo. 200 x 400 sounds more like it. 20 x 400 would be one long skinny flag! I am NOT being loud. I'm being enthusiastic!

Paul does those types of demos all over and has been in the business as long as I have...he runs one of the Elvis teams as well. The flag Paul is jumping is in the 2000 sqft category...by no means the 'largest', but still quite challenging to do properly...he uses a Tandem set up similar to the one we use for a 3500 sqft flag. The 20 X 400 thing is a misprint, they mean 20 X 40 which is 800 sqft and while still no easy task to fly, is relatively easier than the mega monsters...and you can use your sport canopy to do it. ...A 200 X 400 would be 80,000 square feet...think about that for a minute! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

BillyVance 35 #10 March 21, 2008 Quotenot taking away from the skill of the people involved but to be honest as as a non american i just think that is beyond tacky Why? Qualified jumpers have been doing this for decades. I take it you've never seen it done in your country?"Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
DARK 0 #11 March 21, 2008 i dont mean the flag carrying, its more of the whole spectacle, with the ridicolous singer etc, no doubt its a great display of skill from all involved its just the spectacle of patriotism that is made at what seems to be any opportunity in the states but this isnt the soapbox so thats all ill say. i dont mean anything personal by it either its just something iv noticed watching american events

You can see the 20 X 40 would be a bit easier to jump, deploy, fly and land. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

Yes, they may not like the country as it stands now, but you better be damned sure that they love their country. And having seen my fair share of demo jumps, i am always awed by the site. Nothing pleases me as a Marine than to see others honoring their country, as it's what i live for. Semper Fi
