Crock Pot cooking

Recommended Posts

I love my crock pot, but I never use it enough because it does take a little planning to get up in the morning and prepare something. I'm really with it this morning though, I just gone done putting a roast in it with carrots and potatoes. It's going to smell so good in my house when I get home tonight! Yummy! B|

Is anyone else a crock pot fan? What kind of stuff do you cook? I could use some new recipes. I have a killer Chicken Chow Mein recipe if anyone is interested.

Chicken chow mein???

what time should we all show up?;)

Crock pots are the bachelors friend, I love cubed steak, beans, carrots, potatoes, serrano or habanero peppers - with them, you dont need much in the way of seasoning........ other than chopping the stuff up, you just toss it in the pot and it cooks itself!!!!

now if the damned thing would clean itself...........

I love my crockpot with my busy mom schedule and have lots of recipes that I'll send you. I have several chicken ones, a really good pork chop one, some roast ones, cubed steak to die for, and a BBQ one.

One thing I invested in a few years back was a crockpot that has a removable insert so I can prepare everything the night before in the insert and put it in the fridge then just take it out the next morning, place the insert in the unit and turn it on. When we are done the insert easily fits in the dishwasher so I don't have to clean it.

Thats the kind i have too. Makes cleaning it so much easier. I haven't been using my crock pot lately, but now i'm in the mood to break it out and cook something.

I have not had a good cooked meal in a long time.

I love Pot Roast. What time are you serving again?

I definitely have not been eating well. Frozen dinners and sometimes not at all. I am just too busy. Then I get tired and do not feel like cooking for one. Oh Well, I am trained to run on lack of everything(Sleep, food, and water)

Then we could expand on the secret. ;)

Crock Pot. Is that something like a 'Crop Top'?
I think you would look great in one SkyMama.

Crock pots are cool. Let me know what time to show up for dinner. I'll make sure I'm really hungry. BTW, where is it that you live? lol

We tend to use our crockpot more in the cooler months. Tom makes a great pork chop / bean&bacon soup dish in the crock pot, we love pot roast, chili and anything that doesn't require "real" cooking. A friend of mine got me a cookbook titled, "Fix it and Forget it" - all crockpot recipes!

We both work full time so it's wonderful to come home to "home-cooked" meal at the end of the day.

Wowza mama! I used my crock pot a lot of the time when I used to cook!
Everything from home made mac-n-cheese to bread. I will say the bread maker made bread better.
Mine had a removable insert so all the chooping was done the night before.
I have a really old recipe book from the 60s. Man some really great stuff in there and easy too!
I will look around and see if its in storage somewhere...then I'll pass it on.:)

Thanks for the recipe! It's VERY handy to have. You can look around on Allrecipes.com and get some good ones. This sounds weird, but if you get some turkey sausage, ketchup and grape jelly it turns out really well.

The best ever investment I've made is the George Foreman grill. We used the last one my mom got me up...it was a cheaper brand so it didn't last as long or work as well, but we bought a new one because we use it dang near every day with us trying to eat healthy which means LOTS of chicken.

I also got one of those silly choppers like they sell at the mall last weekend that chops up dang near anything while you pound the top of it. With my grill and that chopper I made homemade chicken salad with my own stuff so it is healthier. :)

I don't know if P.F. Chang's is known elsewhere then Raleigh, but they have a lettuce wrap that's they're rather known for with chopped chicken and such in it that I found a good recipe for if anyone wants it.

Minestrone. Vegan. A can of chopped tomatoes, some veggie broth, whatever veggies are around, and at the end a little pasta.

I have this cow print crock pot (confession, Mu is a cow fanatic-I think they're so damn cute) but the post office broke the crock when I mailed it to myself from Hawaii.
Its a discontinued shape and size so the replacement is a total ripoff....so if anyone sees a new cow print crock pot for sale....PM me, k?

Just keep swimming...just keep swimming....

I need "crockpot cooking for dummies"![:/] Both times I tried to use it my potatoes came out raw and my roast came out overcooked! I'll definitely be calling you girls next time I attempt to cook!:)
Now casseroles on the other hand... I'm your girl!!!;)

Stuffed Peppers work well for me. Use your normal recipe. I also make a lasagna in one, but I roll the noodles into pinwheels and stand them vertically for ease of serving. If I can find my rice pudding recipe I will post.

my crock pot has been sitting in the box for years, and I just don't understand why it hasn't whipped up something good for me:)
But you've inspired me, I'll try the chicken chow mein. Now the only isle I know at the store is the beer isle is chicken sold near there?
