shropshire 0 #1 March 21, 2008 It's a holiday and the weather is aweful so I've been searching Youtube for stuff. Any way, here's a great version of Led Zep's Strairway to Heaven - people of said that it's Led Zep and Pink Floyd (similar drum sound) but it's actually a group called "Far Corporation"... see what you think.. shropshire 0 #3 March 21, 2008 I thought they sound good too... different from the original.. but that's a good thing. Too many covers miss the point by trying to reproduce the original. Strange thing about the 'bug' thing... oh well. (.)Y(.) Chivalry is not dead; it only sleeps for want of work to do. - Jerome K Jerome
kschilk 0 #4 March 21, 2008 It is different but too muddy, for my taste. I always thought there are certain songs, that should never be covered (like this one)....'coz ya' just can't top the original."T'was ever thus."
shropshire 0 #5 March 21, 2008 I've listened to it a few times now and it is actually growing on me more. I'm not sure that I agree with stuff that shouldn't be covered... I can't think of one off hand. (.)Y(.) Chivalry is not dead; it only sleeps for want of work to do. - Jerome K Jerome
kschilk 0 #6 March 21, 2008 Some songs just aren't right, unless they're done by the original artists. Just my op, of course...it's all in what you want to hear. For me, some stuff is almost sacred and to alter it or play it any less than perfect, is like blasphemy. There's a certain chemistry between bandmembers, that creates the true sound....the soul that goes into playing or singing. Easy example...Hendrix. Only one person, Frank Marino (Mahogany Rush), ever truly came close to replicating Hendrix. I'm a huge Hendrix and MR fan and have been, since their beginnings. Frank is almost a mirror image of Jimi, in voice and guitar style but when he covers Hendrix....it sounds like Frank Marino, doing Hendrix....but nothing like Hendrix. The vocals were real close and the guitar was exact but as for "soul"...he might as well've been singin' a restaurant menu. Kinda' hard to explain, I guess....just one of my quirks. jtval 0 #9 March 23, 2008 Quote Damn good, but why must I look at a bug while listening? Did you watch it throughout the entire vid? Did you notice it moving? If not watch again, you'll see the legs move slowly and take about 3 steps fwd then revers to the orig position. My photos My Videos
