apollard24 0 #1 March 23, 2008 I've had my Macbook for less than a year now and the battery is not being recognized for some reason. I have to keep it plugged up to use. Anyone else have any problems with battery life? Im going to go to the Apple store but was wondering if anyone had any quick fixes until then. Breathe out so I can breathe you in... howardwhite 6 #2 March 23, 2008 Dunno about MacBooks, but MacBook Pros have had battery problems. I took mine to the local Apple store last month and got a free replacement (would have been $129). HW

jcd11235 0 #4 March 23, 2008 Click on the Apple symbol on the left end of your menu bar. Click on "About This Mac." On the window that opens, click on the "More Info…" button. That should open a System Profiler window. In the "Contents" menu on the left side of the System Profiler window, under "Hardware" there is a subcategory called "Power." On my MacBook, Power is the 14th item under Hardware. Highlight "Power." Scroll down to "Battery Information:". Look under the subcategory "Charge Information:". What is the value given for "Charge remaining (mAh):"? What is the value given for "Full charge capacity (mAh):"? Is the battery listed as fully charged or charging? Below "Charge Information:" is "Health Information:" What is listed under "Cycle count:" and "Battery health:"? Also, when was the last time you ran Software Update? (To run Software Update, click on the Apple symbol in the menu bar, and then click on "Software Update…") I seem to remember a firmware update for the battery in my MacBook a few months back. It should be accessible via Software Update if it is available for and not yet installed on your MacBook.Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! Well after calling customer service and them telling me to go to the store, going to the store and them telling me to come back in a few days, calling customer service again and finally getting someone to actually listen to what was needed Im getting a new battery sent to me. It was frustrating but worth it I guess. Just baffles me how someone in the store walks in with an iphone they had ran over with their truck and it was in a million pieces but they couldnt work me in with a simple battery problem.Breathe out so I can breathe you in... Maybe you needed to go into the store wearing a tight miniskirt or showing some good cleavage... no wait, those people are all nerds... that wouldn't work... Gato 0 #9 March 25, 2008 Just a note - make sure you know everything about "training" your new battery. What you do in the beginning of a battery's life determines how it's going to perform for the rest of its life. For instance, some units will "learn" bad recharging habits if you regularly recharge from below a certain level, i.e. recharging when you're seeing 65% charge - you may be advised to wait until it's below 40% or 25% before plugging it in. Be sure to read the manual to your specific model of laptop about calibrating and maintaining your battery. Best of luck.T.I.N.S.
