Does any else find that flute jam incredible!!! Its about 3 and a half minutes into the song.

After scratching my head a few minutes, it finally occurred to me: Are you talking about Jethro Tull?
You know how far back in my hazy memory that was???:S

Memory Jog

You think Jethro would pass today's American Idol "Simon Test?"

Well, if we are going to subject rockstars of the past to "the Simon Test", I would love to see Simon try insulting Frank Zappa!:D

only if simon was doing acid!:S
That was the whole point....they were creating a new type of music....it amazes me how mainstream this song became...courtesy of 'classic rock' stations.:|

When you hear the live recording of Locomotive Breath, you can hear him make a "HUUUUP" sound as he gulps air at one point.

JT was an oddity. A flute player and violin player were central musicians. A few of their songs were about madness.

You can hear it on the recorded version of My God a couple of times. The man rocks!

Did y'all know our very own DSE plays a pretty mean Native American flute and has many cd's? Maybe I can sweet-talk him into posting a video.

Yes, been listening to Ian Anderson for years. Aqualung is a great album.

For those that need to hear more yet..

Not too many people write stuff like this any more... sadly.

Great album.... interesting lyrics.....

saw Jethro Tull live, twice...
absolutely great music..... ALL their work...

many of the more obscure tracks, have become favorites...
Living in the Past double album , Thick as a brick, one song both sides of the LP.B|

Aqualung, L Breath , Cross eyed mary.....
They did some nice acoustic rock, as well...."lifes a long song"...
I got a two disc set a while ago....play the hell out of it....
and in fact , Ian A. is in the cassette player
of my work truck, as we speak.....

Always liked the sound of the flute... especially when it is incorporated into rock music...
Ray Thomas is good too. But Jethro Tull is my favorite

now please excuse me,
i'll be off,,, 'sitting on a park bench'........:o:D;)

..but without...... any "bad intent"

I'm so old I had Aqualung on quadraphonic 8-track!

Tull is very cool. I watched a bunch of their stuff on Youtube a couple weeks ago, both old & new. Ian Anderson still has it!

You know how far back in my hazy memory that was???

What are you talking about - didn't you know they came to Denver just a few months ago?

Tull; one of my favorite rock bands.

Was trying to remember what year I saw them (and it was definitely in the top 2-3 shows I've seen). Maybe '92 or '93?? Ian Anderson and his flute. WOW!

Same here..Had GREAT tickets back in college, 1979 IIRC...

Some asshole threw a bottle at Ian during the first song, the band walked off stage and kept going! >:(
