fpritchett64 0 #1 March 27, 2008 Did anyone watch this episode last night. Some guy was brought in to a trauma center in Orlando after falling from a 10ft ladder and being impaled though his asshole by a tree branch. The branch had to be cut out in segments because it went so deep. Docs said it stopped just centimeters from his heart. The only major damage was a tear in the bladder. All I can say is damn that had to hurt!!

mamajumps 0 #3 March 27, 2008 Yes I saw that, being in school to be an EMT, I watch all the shows like that, because it is a very good learning tool. I was totally amazed tho that his bladder was the only thing injured. Lady luck was definitly on his side that day! OUCH!!!!

I have no medical background whatsoever, but I was under the impression that all these shows were full of bullshit.

BillyVance 35 #7 March 27, 2008 Now where is that picture I had of the guy who got impaled on a fence post after wiping out on his motorcycle? I watched them before I went to school and all the way thru school. Its funny, can still remember the episode when I heard some medical ER lingo for the first time and I knew what they were talking about. Im sure some of it is "dressed" up for TV, but the bare bones of it is very factual as are the procedures and intruments that they use.

They have to get a shit lot of permissions before they can air that stuff. However the photo gallery on www.trauma.org is really awesome.Divot your source for all things Hillbilly. nigel99 619 #11 March 27, 2008 A friend of mines brother was kicked out of med school because their were builders on scaffolding working on their floor. He asked the builders if they would "like a hand" and handed them a limb from a cadavar. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
