Twoply 0 #1 March 31, 2008 I used to know which way it went but I forgot. When you have a steel item that is old and pitted, you can put it in a tub of water with some other chunk of iron with a positive and negative hooked to one or the other. Leaving it "charged" for an extended period of time, the pitted areas will be refilled with the molecules of the iron chunk. Any validity to this? And if so, what is the proper configuration? kschilk 0 #2 March 31, 2008 Sounds alot like electroplating, to me...don't believe that'll fill holes....but I've been wrong before. Does it have to be a metal fill material? There are two-part putty-type fillers, made for various metals."T'was ever thus."
jtval 0 #3 March 31, 2008 Yea. you're wrong. You have to bathe it in a tub full of tacobell FIRE sauce and put copper in it. The charge is not neccessary but it will speed things up. My photos My Videos
DavidB 0 #4 March 31, 2008 In a tub of "WASHING SODA" & water (I forget the concentration, but tractorbynet.com forums has is, do a search), you attach the negative lead to the piece to be derusted, positive to your "chunk of iron."When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
