EvilEagle 0 #27 March 31, 2008 Quote The military map uses the metric system. It is laid out on a Kilometer grid. The military uses the Kilometer grid so that it can interact with Foreign military units, esp NATO. It is not just the Kilometer that we use to be able to interact with other countries. We have special adapters for communications, power, vehicles, etc. The HMMWV still uses miles on the odometer. That is true for ground units, but all of us flyboys use nautical miles. Inexact is not the word used when heaving artillery rounds down range and a mile is 1600 meters, a kilometer is 1000 meters to be exact, so the two are not the same."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

Then the damn rounds would go over the horizon, and may still be in orbit.inexact, is that a real word or a wikapedia word? An Instructors first concern is student safety. DeNReN 0 #31 April 1, 2008 QuoteHowever, the distance the sight moves can vary from one type of gun to another. So a match rifle might have detents in quarter-minute or half-minute increments, rather than full minutes like a standard battle rifle, to allow for more fine-tuning of the bullet impact point. Back when I competeted it was 3 clicks to a minute......small and large bore, micrometer adjustable sights.
