scootstevens 0 #1 March 21, 2008 Hello fellow divers, my name is Scott. I took my first tandem jump 2 years ago and last spring I took my AFF and pounded in about 160 jumps over my first season! 3 of my close friends started as well! I have just sat through my first winter break and could not be any more stoaked to head back to the sky for my second season I enjoy life most when i'm happy, laughing and around positive people. I'd really like to contribute to the development of my dz environment this year by doing my part to bring some fun to the DZ. I figured it would be appropriate to start a thread on dropzone activities - fun things to do while not jumping or on rainy days. Keep in mind, I'm not looking to piss anyone off and suggestions should be considerate of the elderly A couple ideas I had and some already in place examples would be: - Nerf Gun wars - Remote Controlled Planes - BB gun paper target shooting - The good ol' hacky sack - Unicycle jousting................. Thanks for your inputs and have a great season!

wildfan75 1 #15 March 21, 2008 Here's a few fun things we do at Skydive Wissota when we aren't jumping. * Creeper Wars--Two people on creepers on each side of the creeper pad. Pushers push them towards each other (off set). Creeper people grab arm to arm and convert forward speed to circular speed. First one to fall off the creeper pad and hit the grass has to take their shirt off. Highly recommended for female skydivers. Can be made more festive (and challenging) in very dark conditions with glow sticks. * If clouds are low in winter (and you live somewhere where it snows), tie a children's plastic sled behind a car or truck. See how fast you can get going before A) sledders fall off or B) you reach the end of the runway. DZO's--you may want to make sure your waivers cover this sort of thing before you allow them on the runway. * On windy days, get a pick up truck and take turns seeing if everyone/anyone is strong enough to hold a pilot chute or drogue as you gun it up and down the runway. Warning: It is not suggested that you wrap the bridal around your wrist when doing this. Tip: Make sure the car you are using has enough gas in it (no matter what the gauge says) so you don't have to push the truck down the runway and use airplane fuel to get to the closest gas station. * Marty Ball!!! Best to use one of those Nerf footballs that have the whistle built in. Gather as many throwable objects and head to the landing area. Play catch with frisbee, soccer ball, etc. Wait until someone turns their back and try to get them in the back (or face) with the Marty Ball. Having the football that whistles makes it some what fair because they sort of have a warning.
iluvtofly 0 #16 March 21, 2008 Shooting a potato gun at someone driving around the LZ in the golf cart is fun. If you're not jumping because of high winds I recommend taking an old round, tying it to someone, then tying that someone to the golf cart and take off in the golf cart. That's always funny to watch. Once on a weathered out day at the DZ, a couple guys with an extensive and interesting gun collection brought them out and we had a blast just blasting away at objects set up in front of a dirt bank. I don't remember all the gun types, but I do remember our 5'-1" tall 110 lb DZO trying out a shotgun and I was standing 3 feet behind her. BLAM! and she flew backwards, right into my waiting arms! Funniest time we all had that day!
