rwieder 0 #27 March 3, 2006 QuoteIf you don't mind me asking but how did you pay him? Did you use something like Paypal or a CC which offers buyer/seller protection? It's been a while back. I really don't remember. Ask him. If i wanted my money back bad enough, i'd go and collect it personally. I'm just warning others that this guy advised me that he has more than a few of these old canopies laying around, and what you see is not what you get sometimes. I'll look around for the e-mail i sent him after i had the canopy sent to a competant rigger and post it if i can find it. I do remember him admonishing me for using the work "fuck" and told me before i got anywhere with him i would have to be more civil. I told him if he didn't want to hear the word "fuck" i wasn't quite sure how he could stand to be a DZO and hang around skydivers all of the time. Edit To Add: It really doesn't matter what transpired at that particular time. The fact is i bought a canopy from him, paid him for it before i even recieved it shipping and all. The canopy i recieved was not the one advertised, it was not airworthy either, in fact it had two holes in it. After about a month i quit fussing with him over it. Bottom line, he took my $$$ and did not honor his end of the deal, neither did he refund me any $$$ which makes him a fucking theif. Plain and simple. He owes me $$$ and won't pay it....bottom line.-Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

So you got abusive with someone you wanted a refund from and they decided to ignore you? Then you went on a forum and publicly outed him. So you've actually just purchased the right to go on a tirade at this point..... It's a business transaction that should be corrected as a business transation. As soon as one party makes it emotional and personal, so will the other. It's a problem when transactions are NOT face to face - people get all bent out of shape because they forget they are dealing with people, not just a PO box or website. I bet if this was face to face, he'd have replaced the gear, you'd have been decent to him and you both might have an ongoing business in the future. I know some very decent business owners that would bend over backwards to correct a mistake they made. But if the customer gets abusive and starts posing, they'll shut down and be about as unreasonable as possible. At this point, both people are at fault and the "he started" argument is juvenile. I got a pretty bad cartoon bubble of how this went down between the two of you. Since it's likely incorrect, I'll leave it alone. edit: conversely, I also know some asshat business owners that are only out for a buck. I really can't tell which scenario happened, but earlier you asked for a devil's advocate scenario - then later you note your were verbally abusive..... So I offered a scenario. Good luck. ... mattjw916 2 #29 March 3, 2006 If the seller did not deliver what he advertised he deserves to be "outed" here. Honesty is paramount in selling gear. I know when I sell equipment on here I am extremely detailed regarding the condition of parts, canopies, etc as I know what can result when people don't get what they expect. As a result, I have never had any complaints from my buyers. I personally would _never_ purchase anything from someone after reading a story like this. Complaining about foul language is not an excuse to rip someone off, period. The seller should man up, admit the mistake and make appropriate restitution.NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

Really, i went easy on him. It's been over a year. QuoteComplaining about foul language is not an excuse to rip someone off, period. The seller should man up, admit the mistake and make appropriate restitution. He was given the chance to do just that, he chose not to. He advertised the canopy as "In perfect condition" and "AIRWORTHY" Damned thing had two holes in the top skin (I have pics) Hardly airworthy and in perfect condition. Again, bottom line, he "took me" for my $$$. Foul language or no, business is business. One skydiver shouldn't be trying to "get over" on another skydiver. I don't see the honorable DZO Pirotti here defending his position either, that speaks volumes. I guess if i was a theif and a liar, i wouldn't wan't to defend that position either. I've NEVER stolen anything from anyone EVER. I've done business on dz.com, and e-bay for years and i've always payed my way. I don't now, or ever will condone stealing.-Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
Spizzzarko 0 #31 March 3, 2006 "thing had two holes in the top skin" Holes are patchable. It may not be in "Perfect" condition, but you are using the word airwothy a little to liberaly. You were verbally abusive to the guy, and hiding behind the excuse of "How can you be a dzo if you don't want to hear the word fuck?" is not mature. Don't lable me as a rude person be cause I skydive. I never understood how grownups can go to a DZ act like children, and say it is acceptable because they are skydivers. Grow up, learn some manners, learn to do business in a civilized manner, and maybe you won't have to come on here and whine.
rwieder 0 #32 March 3, 2006 QuoteHoles are patchable. I'm merely repeating what he said. QuoteYou were verbally abusive to the guy Your fucking A right i was. I was lied to, then stolen from, oh, guess i should have sent him a dozen roses? Quoteand hiding behind the excuse of "How can you be a dzo if you don't want to hear the word fuck?" Ludicrous remark on your behalf. I've learned profanity on dropzones, and the word fuck is so common....get real. QuoteDon't lable me as a rude person be cause I skydive I don't even know you, and i haven't assigned you a moniker just yet, no, i won't either. QuoteI never understood how grownups can go to a DZ act like children, and say it is acceptable because they are skydivers Take up bowling? Golf? Tennis? I know....Polo! QuoteGrow up, learn some manners, learn to do business in a civilized manner You don't even know me. I am a professional at what i do. I deal with business people everyday, millionaires in fact, i hardly need a lesson in behaviorial tactics from you. Save it. Quoteand maybe you won't have to come on here and whine WTF? Whining? I am merely warning other potential victems, i ain't whining about nothing. You really need to read the original post instead of putting your own "spin" on the matter. slotperfect 7 #33 March 3, 2006 I think all of the points have been made here. Although the seller is a registered dotcommer, he has not posted to this thread. If he would like to present his side of the story, he can contact me via PM and I will unlock the thread so he can do so. Otherwise, it's just going to spiral into a shouting match. Richard and Grant - please continue your conversations via PM. Thanks,Arrive Safely John
