mamajumps 0 #2 April 4, 2008 1 cup of bowling water mixed with jello, add a handfull of ice cubes to jello water to cool it off a bit, then add 1 cup of favorite alcohol. (If you add alcohol to the boiling jello water, some of the alcohol will evaporate). You can make them with more than vodka, Parrot Bay with Pineapple Jello are my favorite! micduran 0 #6 April 4, 2008 mamajumps has the right proportions. Find kitchen/restaurant supply store or find a place that sells souffle cups and lids I prefer the 3/4 or 1 oz sizes. They are easier to eat/drink from. Put the lids on before you put them in fridge to chill to jell-o. Put the closed cups in a cooler and throw in a little ice. If you need some extra assurance of it staying solid, double-up on the jello mix to liquid ratio. That also helps it congeal when you're using higher proof liquor. I've only had two jello-shot making experiences (the second experience guaranteed that there would never be another), and that was 19 years ago. Here's a little-publicized jello-shot fact. If you eat about 10-15 high-proof jello shots and then throw up, the yak will re-congeal on whatever surface you yak on. Then, you will always remember the dangers of lime jello and EverClear...on the deck...and having to scrub it off.SCR #14809 "our attitude is the thing most capable of keeping us safe" (look, grab, look, grab, peel, punch, punch, arch)

monkycndo 0 #12 April 5, 2008 I prefer the 2 oz cups. That way each shot equals about an oz of booze. You can use the little paper dixie cups. The jello just doesn't come out as well. And they don't have the lids like the plastic cups. If you are really in a bind and have a In & Out Burger close by, grab a bunch of their ketchup cups. I like the lime jello and Tekillya shots. But only mix it 1 1/4 cups water and 3/4 cup tequilla of the shots are too strong. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. With so many great recipes, I'm gonna be making jello shots for the next couple weeks. Thanks guys! I donno that I'll be making some tonight though, bummer! It's late & all the stores I need to go to for supples are closed - even Costco... I wish I had thought of this sooner; I stopped in a restaurant for dinner & a beer after work & all of a sudden thought it would be fun to make these, so I posted then & there. I could pull it off still I guess, just didn't think transportation would be such an issue.Dialogue/commentary between Divot, Twardo & myself - "from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of

happythoughts 0 #17 April 5, 2008 A couple of weeks ago, I made about 150 pretty quickly. It is about 100 per hour with a lid/fridge assistant. The best method is use the 2 oz sample cups with lids. They are available at Sams in sleeves of 100. Needs: 2 cup pyrex measuring cup with pour spout. (the pour spout makes life easy) 2 qt sauce pan. A large stainless steel mixing bowl. Numerous cookie sheets or pans to put jello into frig to cool. (I use computer paper box tops and stack 3 high) At least one two-liter bottle of vodka. One package of jello makes 25 shots. Do your math and buy the correct number of packages. First, the package will want two cups of hot water and two cups of cold water. Set out 50 cups on a counter. at a time. Directions: Fill a 2 qt pan with water, put on the stove and boil it. Put a jello pack into the stainless mixing bowl. Measure 2 cups of the boiling water into the pyrex. Pour the 2 boiling cups of water into the mixing bowl. Stir until jello is dissolved, not gritty. Immediately add 2 cups of vodka to mixing bowl. Stir. You now have a mixing bowl with over 4 cups of shots. Fill pyrex about 3/4 full and use pour spout to fill cups until mixing bowl is empty. Repeat until out of jello packets. Stop after every 50 shots, put on lids, put cups in tray and tray into frig to cool for at least 2 hours. Over night is good. Transport: Stack cups in cooler. Keep cool. Tips: Don't let assistants try samples until job is completed or some shots will be too strong/weak. Don't pass out all cups at once. 30 at a time. If using different alcohol, identify by different colors. Clean up counters immediately. Jello stains are tough to clean if it dries. For any pans, boiling water will clean easily. I'm thinking of a couple years ago when many of the shots somehow got frozen - maybe it was after the chilling process. All I remember is that there was a lot of ejection of frozen shots because unless they're really small, once they're frozen and in your mouth, there's really not much you can do with them. They don't really melt fast enough to consume before you need to spit them out to breathe. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. It tends to turn into a freezer with the propane if you're not careful. I'd recommend breathing through your nose when you're eating those ones.
