I'm playing my first real public appearance in about 5 years ("real" meaning NOT a drunken bonfire or almost as drunken open-mic night), at a big-ass, normally CROWDED seafood bar & grill dockside in Coconut Grove. .....T-minus-3 hrs/11min. Just me and my trusty old 12-string Natalie (pictured). I'm only set to do an hour, but if the bar manager digs me she'll talk to the owner about getting me future gigs. .....F*ck, the things I talk myself into after a night of mixing Cuervo, Jager and beer! NickDG 23 #5 April 10, 2008 I did my first "gig" on bass guitar not long ago and it was scarer than my first jump, my first student, or my first reserve pack job all put together. Sometimes I think we over-do the dangers of skydiving. Dieing on stage is much worse. All I can offer is follow the loudest member in your band, know where the breaks are, and be able to transpose up and down on the fly . . . Our band name was my idea, The Fabulous Lacklusters . . .
