JohnRich 4 #1 April 13, 2008 The attached image shows some roadside art that recently appeared on Highway 288 south of Houston, Texas. You see it on your drive to Spaceland Skydiving, just past the intersection with Beltway 8. These giant busts of presidents stand about 12' high, and made the kid in me want to climb up on them. But they're made of a thin layer of stucco over wire mesh, and rock-climbing might damage them. They are, from left to right: 1) George Bush #1 2) George Washington 3) ? 4) Abe Lincoln 5) Roosevelt? 6) John Kennedy? I can't positively identify several of them - does anyone know who they are? I'm guessing that #3 is an early one, from the clothing, like Adams or Jefferson? To really impress me, come up with some reason why these five would be grouped together. And why wouldn't they be placed in chronological order?
NWFlyer 2 #2 April 13, 2008 #3 looks like Jefferson to me, and I agree with your ID of all the others. Does seem a rather random collection, though."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. JohnRich 4 #3 April 13, 2008 Quote#3 looks like Jefferson to me. Attached: side-by-side comparison of the bust, with an official portrait painting from the internet. Strong resemblance. I think you may have the correct identification.

kschilk 0 #5 April 13, 2008 I suppose #3 could be James Madison, which could mean these are all war-time Presidents...only connection I can come up with. Unfortunately, I can't find a good profile pic of Madison but the pronounced chin, looks a bit more like Madison, than Jefferson."T'was ever thus." cloudseeker2001 0 #7 April 13, 2008 I met the guy who made these some time ago. These have been sitting outside his studio for years.......I guess he finally found someone to buy them! I saw them Friday for the first time out there in the field, and they look bigger than when I saw them a few years ago. JohnMitchell 16 #10 April 14, 2008 Quote I am guessing to help foster the memories for the cult??? Hey, Jefferson was pretty enlightened . . . for a slave owner. He was a highly educated, intelligent man. Amazing that he and so many others of that era could turn a blind eye to their "peculiar institution." I guess we all have our hypocricies. Hopefully none of them involve human bondage. Yep, I checked the picture on the ??? dollar bill that has Jefferson's portrait. I agree. BTW, what denomination has Jefferson? Do you have one of those?
