madhatter 0 #1 April 17, 2008 Besides Eskom (SA's only supplier of electricity) imposing regular 'loadshedding' (cutting the power on a regular schedule due to lack of adequate supply), my ISP is screwed. I'm on a cellular modem & used to get 3.6 Mb/s. For the past 2 weeks I can only connect at 53.6 Kb/s (same as dial-up)... May I please have a hug? A VERY MERRY UNBIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! madhatter 0 #3 April 17, 2008 Thanks Roo! With our haphazard power supply, I can't work for at least 2-3 hours every second day & with my current slow internet connection I can't really play around on dz.com... Just feeling sorry for myself A VERY MERRY UNBIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! D.S #

Shepp 0 #5 April 18, 2008 Hey Johann, sorry to hear about your internet connection. Have you ever looked into satellite broadband? This site has some good info on providers covering SA.Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterward. Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.
madhatter 0 #6 April 18, 2008 Thanks for the link! I'd never really considered it, but have now sent a few e-mails to get more info. I came across pricing on one supplier's website & the monthly costs are quite cheap. The initial hardware installation was quoted as $2295, though. If that's the standard, I won't be able to go that route The only certain thing is that I WILL be changing my ISP. A VERY MERRY UNBIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!
