brabzzz 0 #1 February 15, 2006 All i want is the graphing, none of this logbook business/expense/cradles stuff. Is there something commercially available (or has someone written an app) that does just that? Or is shelling out a few bucks for jumptrack/paralog my best bet? dragon2 2 #2 February 15, 2006 I think you still need the hardware (cradle) for the pro-track? Haven't heard of anyone bypassing that, although it can't be THAT difficult (un-educated guess here). If you can't buy the cradle separately I'd just buy jumptrack, otherwise I think paralog has a small app for palmOS with just simple data, I think it's free. ciel bleu, Saskia
brabzzz 0 #3 February 15, 2006 I remember reading somewhere that the ProTrack transmits the data using an IR diode. If thats the case, most palms/laptops have IR ports which should, in theory, be able to receive that. Depends on wavelength, data rate, protocol, etc. Just because they're both infrared doesn't mean they can talk to each other. My guess would be that they cannot."It's amazing what you can learn while you're not talking." - Skydivesg
LouDiamond 1 #5 February 17, 2006 As far as I know, Paralog is the only skydiving specific software out there that also has a PALM/handheld interface to allow you to use your handheld device for logging and signing jumps, etc."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
vixsal 0 #6 February 17, 2006 The Pro-Track will store information for 200 jumps but will store profiles for only 10 tracks. To preserve profiles, it is necessary to download Pro-Track data after every ten jumps but, when traveling, it is not always possible to lug along a laptop. It is easy to carry a handheld computer and the Palm handhelds are small and will hold considerable data. I was able to preserve jump profiles by saving Pro-Track data on a Palm handheld. This raw data is stored as a text file which is later imported into Jump-Track on a PC. this required some hardware and is not really what you are after. However, the data file has all the information required for plotting the profile but I have not written a program to do that. Your best bet is to get Paralog even though it will require some hardware. I can PM a document showing what I did.
