murrays 0 #3 April 16, 2008 I think Matt Serra is a smart fighter who is capable of quickly capitalizing on any GSP mistake. Serra may not have the most stellar record but he may be the guy that is a tougher fight for GSP than other more highly considered fighters. Sometimes the guy you shouldn't have trouble with gives you fits. That being said, I think GSP will be prepared in every way for this fight, he will NOT underestimate Matt Serra, and he will beat Serra. The Bell Centre in Montreal is going to be absolutely ROCKING!!!-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
jtval 0 #4 April 17, 2008 I think it would be poetic justice for Serra to win again. I know that doesn't mean crap, though. I am bothered by how the UFC treated its champ. They gave Serra no credit and spent all their time on GSP.. The interim belt was a fucking joke and ,like the true sportsman, GSP didn't accept it and gave the proper acknowledgement to the holder of the belt. THEN, they make the fight in Canada which I know Serra agreed upon but that was supposed to be a bonus to GSP for being the Champ, which he is not. They should make him win the belt back then fight in canada to defend it. Although I DO see the amazing business opp for the UFC to open up a canadian market (even moreso then it is now.)My photos My Videos

GSP V Serra 2 Your take What in hell are you smoking?!?!!? Can you really seriously blame anybody for not giving Serra credit? One shot, one lucky shot. His fight record is the reason most fans can't find it in their heart to call him a champion. He's lost to the fighters that are considered the top guns...BJ & Parisyan and then his wins were mostly by decision. C'mon, his track record is nothing compared to GSP. And damnit, if Serra wins because of some fluke again, I'll blame you!!! So go knock on wood already!! ~Built for Abuse www.skydivethefarm.com

jtval 0 #8 April 17, 2008 QuoteHis fight record is the reason most fans can't find it in their heart to call him a champion. They don't have to find it in thier hearts to call him Champ. He won; be it luck or not, he's champ. The ufc treats him as if he's just the guy holding the belt. It shows how little they care about the title and the fighter holding it. If they don't like the guy then the belt doesnt mean as much? If thats the case, it lessens the value of it when someone like GSP holds it. Ad besides what kind of fighter is GSP. I mean come on he lost to Matt Serra...and that guy sucks. My photos My Videos

jtval 0 #12 April 17, 2008 I definitely like GSP and think he is a great athlete. I think he deserves the title but right now he does not hold it. On paper, GSP definitely has the edge. and the UFC made it clear that they don't want Serra in the top position, which is why I want him to hold it. I want to see how they react. ...and besides, I don;t think I have any bejeezus left in me. My photos My Videos
klingeme 1 #13 April 17, 2008 I am really a Serra fan, but it is hard to root against GSP. I so wanted to see Serra end Matt's career, and I was hoping he was going to retire after GSP handed his ass to him, but no such luck. I think I'm going to watch this one as a true fan of both fighters, and whoever is better that night will win. I know it sounds like a cop-out but that's my story and I'm stickin to it. Even though he had some annoying shouts. Honestly, it's probably a good thing that he's got that damn voice. Fighters can probably pick his voice out of the noise during a fight, plus the higher pitched Serra-screech probably cuts through the internal drone that you hear after getting hit in the head a few times. You know what I mean? That weird sensory disconnect.

chinagirl 0 #19 April 18, 2008 And besides what kind of fighter is GSP. I mean come on he lost to Matt Serra...and that guy sucks. I can't believe you actually said that...the dude beat out anybody who's anybody in MMA. His only two lost was with Matt Hughes (early in his career) and Matt Serra (I don't give a sh*t what anybody says, it was a goddamn fluke). I understand what you're saying about treating the belt holder like a champion but let's keep in mind he didn't fight the match that was suppose to be a title shot! I know it was due to injury but in any other sport, it would have been a forfeit and the opponent wins. Let me just say that if Matt Serra wins this match, I'll freakin' lick your toes!! I am absolutely a fan of GSP and I wouldn't be sad if he wins because his IS IMO what the UFC SHOULD represent; great sportsmanship, integrity and class. He ALWAYS has too much class for one guy to carry. That said. Serra is stil the underdog. I usually llike to see them win. I like Serra b/c he is from Long Island, as am I. (yea, he seems like a cocky dbag sometimes but if you understand the L.I. sense of humor he's actually joking most of the time.)
