Icon134 0 #1 April 24, 2008 Despite what the instructions for the cassette state a Shimano 10 speed chain (6.1 mm wide) will not function properly on a SRAM 10 Speed cassette. It would seem that the SRAM 10 speed chains are 5.9 mm wide and although the instructions for the cassette claims compatibility with Shimano chains this isn't actually the case. I do have a nice new High gear on my bike and have replaced the Tiagra Shifters with Ultegra shifters that are soooo much smother...Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... Remster 30 #2 April 24, 2008 Bummer... At least a new chain isnt that expensive (although zero was even less expensive...) Why didint you go for an Ultegra cassette by the way?Remster
Icon134 0 #3 April 24, 2008 QuoteWhy didint you go for an Ultegra cassette by the way?I could get an additional Higher gear (11 teeth) with the SRAM cassette without losing my low gear 26 teeth. The 9 speed cassette that was on the bike was a 12-26. So I gained some mechanical advantage at the top gear but didn't lose any at the bottom...Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
