What is meant by the dress code designations
Resort Casual
And Resort Upscale?
I can do Casual, biz casual, black tie, but I don't know what's meant when you throw in the word "Resort" Does that take casual from khakis to khaki shorts? Does Resort Upscale mean to lose the tie but avoid the tacky shirts, or tacky shirts are OK, but wear a tie. Geesh, they make this harder than it needs to be

Depends on the resort.

For example, Hedonism is a resort that Casual has a slightly different meaning than say a Disney resort.

Typical Costa Rican all-inclusive joint. Evidently, my wife has decided the 10 years with me is worthy of celebration.

Resort casual - Tommy Bahama shirts, no jeans, linen pants.

Resort upscale - Sport jacket, collared shirt, and loafers maybe?

Try calling a travel agent, or the resort itself. Think "yacht club."

For God's sake, don't let yourself be seen in an ascot and a captain's hat.

Take her by The Blue Marlin Bar at the Hotel Del Ray. I would say to make sure you catch the Show at the Hotel Park too while you are there but I think it is closed now.

BTW, Costa Ricans are the most casual laid back people you will ever meet. Dont worry about it. Pura Vida.

In my neck of the woods, casual to upscale is if you drink from the jar or pour it in a dixie cup first

Polo Shirts, and tee shirts
flip flops

Resort upscale:
Khaki shorts, Khaki pants, linen suits, business suits at dinner

My wife and I come from different backgrounds. I think that most of the time I do OK, but I live in fear of embarrassing her when it's important.
