DFWAJG 4 #8 April 25, 2008 Dogs are omnivors. They eat everything. Veges are good for them. I don't stop Patty from eating small animals that she has "hunted" or found dead like (like a bird on the beach). Dog food is terrible for dogs. More animals have had health problems because of the stuff. Since Patty has been eating only plants, she no longer requires shots for her arthritis and she no longer requires synthroid. She is more lively than she has ever been. The dogs love their diet, especially bananas, apples, pears, avocados, broccoli and squash.

wmw999 2,559 #11 April 25, 2008 Ok, my dog's not a vegan, but he does, in fact, absolutely love raw broccoli, carrots, lettuce, and nearly everything else that I give him except for herbs (just doesn't care for cilantro or basil ). So I can easily imagine that they'd eat an all vegan diet with alacrity. Gotta make sure they get their nutrients as well. Wendy W. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. They are not vegans or Vegataians. Omnivores are not made to eat and digest with exclusivity. Their is nothing wrong with commercial pet foods. It is possible for Bones and Raw Food(BARF diets) to be the core of a complete and balanced diet. However, there is much more room for home made diets to have nutritional deficiencies and imbalances. Allowing your dog to ONLY get a meat based protein from critters she catches opens you up to bones splintering in the throat, intestinal perforations and obstructions, E. coli, Listeria, Salmonella, and parasites. Many of the contaminating microorganisms have zoonotic potential which can make them a public hazard. There is no concern that commercal pet foods create problems for dogs and cats. I can bring you some great studies on Dogs and cats being feed BARF and vegartarian diets from major Universities. I don't post but couldn't let this one slide by.... Is there anything a dog won't eat, regardless of whether it is hungery or not? it depends on the dog, but in short yes, there are many thing dogs wont eat. Biologically they are opportunistic feeders/hunters. so they are built to be able to go a day or two without food. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS!
