Impressive Paraglider photo

Recommended Posts

Is that really "Time lapsed" or is that just photo shopped?
It would seem like that would be imposible to time lapse and even if it was possible wouldn't the clouds move indepentanly from the glider?
Cool looking photo but I'm calling it a fake.[:/]

It looks more like a multiple exposure shot, not a time lapse
Time lapse with a still camera, gives blurred images ( one that are moving)
Time laspes with a video give a stacatto effect for the movement.

Multiple exposure images, layer an image on a back ground, it looks like this is a multi exposure taken at about 5-7 frames per second

If so wouldn't the clouds have moved from the point of reference aka the tri-pod that camera would have to be on? This would be an incredibly technical shot. In fact I’m sure that it would be impossible. On top of that after further examination there is a blurring/halo effect around the canopies. This is a common response when someone layers pictures via photo shop and then saves them as a .jpg Don’t get me wrong it’s very ascetically pleasing but I’m still pretty sure that it’s a fake.

The clouds (background) will only move if the winds aloft are honking, in the space of time required for a multi exposure of this kind (if it's real) we are only talking 2-3 seconds total time

Agree to disagree on this one. The clouds would have to be perfectly still for the 2-3 secs. Do a test. Change the exposure time on your camera to just 1 sec. Take a tri-pod point it at any cloud you want and see what comes out.

Strangely enough i have done that test many times :)Whilst leaving the aperture open for one full second WILL blurr out the background, taking 4 or 5 pics WITHIN that second wont blurr it

It could be shopped (to some extent) - I just guessed that it was time-lapsed. The manouver is fast so those few shots would have only taken a short period of time...
None the less it's a sweet photo seriesB|B|

A SAT is a modified Spiral, where the centre of rotation is between the pilot and the canopy. So the pilot actual rotates backwards as the canopy rotates forward. YouTube SAT

I've not managed to get into one yet... it always ends up as a bag of shit.

Yes, those are known as jpg artifacts. They appear because of jpg compression, and would appear on any highly compressed jpg image. Layering in photoshop or any other program does not do this.

I don't see any reason that this is photoshopped. And I like the photo too. :)
The only thing I wonder a bit about is how he get's the canopy that bright compared to the background. With 19 (roughly, I counted quickly...) exposures, that would leave the background bright, and the canopy not so bright, I'd think. I suppose there was sun from the left, and dark clouds as background. Good job by the photographer.

Yes that is true but there will be subtle differences between each of the photos. Enough so that it would cause a blurring effect on the whole photo, much like what would be seen with in increase of apature. I figure that the photo was made from a series of photos and then layered onto one background. It is still an impressive photo that shows true talent in photograph. I am just merely being the token DZ.com ass-hole and nit-picking. It's not really a time lapse photo. I too was heavy into photograph. That is until digital cameras took over the scene. Which is odd because I am a young guy. I'm just old school I guess. I still have my own darkroom but I hardly use it.

It's schlerian sp? photography that can visualize fluid flow. Now how the hell can we do this in 3D to cheat and see where the good thermals are?! :D
