ACMESkydiver 0 #1 April 29, 2008 I couldn't believe what I was reading...but this came to me in part of a medical report I requested: QuoteSydney Ross Singer and Soma Grismaijer (husband-and-wife authors of Dressed to Kill, Avery Press, 1995) have discovered a possible trigger for breast cancer in interviews of 4,730 women in five major US cities, conducted between 1991 and 1993. They found that: Women who wore their bras for 24 hours per day had a 3 out of 4 chance of developing breast cancer (their study included 2056 subjects for the cancer group and 2674 for the standard group). Women who wore bras more than 12 hour per day but not to bed had a 1 out of 7 risk. Women who wore their bras less than 12 hours per day had a 1 out of 152 risk. Women who wore bras rarely or never had a 1 out of 168 chance of getting breast cancer. I know the study is old and a fairly small sampling, but it was presented to me in my medical report on things that *I* need to be doing based upon my heritage/current condition and risk factors. Hmm.... I was one of those that wore them 24/7 because I thought it was healthier for you to have better support! That's stopping right now.... The serious question I have is this: do women with smaller sized breasts tend to get breast cancer less frequently? I know my aunt had a double mastectomy and she had fairly small sized breasts, but all the other women I've known personally that had breast cancer were fairly large? If that's the case, I wonder if those numbers are skewed just due to smaller breasts = less likely to be uncomfortable sans bra? Geesh I know I go through the morning sometimes w/o (I just wear a sweatshirt so it isn't quite AS noticeable ) but to just go without all the time? I don't think my skin could handle that kinda weight. I wonder if there's a better solution on the horizon?~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. ACMESkydiver 0 #2 April 29, 2008 Sorry!! I missed adding the rest of the article: Quote The World Health Organization calls chemical toxins the primary cause of cancer. Poisons accumulating in breast tissue are normally flushed by clear lymph fluid into large clusters of lymph nodes nestling in the armpits and upper chest. Because lymphatic vessels are very thin, they are extremely sensitive to pressure and are easily compressed. Chronic minimal pressure on the breasts can cause lymph valves and vessels to close. A look at the breast cancer rate in countries where bra-wearing is not the norm shows a very low incidence of breast cancer. Japanese women living in Japan, where bra-wearing is uncommon, have a very low incidence of breast cancer; however in second generation Japanese-American women, the breast cancer rate sky-rockets to match that of the Western world. The overall increase found between 24-hour wearing and not wearing at all was 125-fold. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. BillyVance 35 #3 April 29, 2008 Well, if you go bra-less, you have to consider whether you want your boobs touching the floor when you're 60. NWFlyer 2 #6 April 29, 2008 Huh? You mean there are women (other than on TV, of course) who sleep in their bras? tigra 0 #9 April 29, 2008 I'm a HUGE Sex and the City fan but every time I saw Sarah Jessica Parker in bed with her bra on, I just wanted to scream! Who does that????? Shoot, there are plenty of evenings when I am in the process of "liberating" my girls as I am opening the door to my house!
sunshine 2 #10 April 29, 2008 Quote Shoot, there are plenty of evenings when I am in the process of "liberating" my girls as I am opening the door to my house! Why are you in such a hurry to take your bra off? Are you not wearing comfy bras? Maybe i'm weird (duh!), but i usually keep mine on when i'm home...unless someone else takes it off for me so he can play. Please don't think i'm picking on you by asking this, i'm just really curious. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! NWFlyer 2 #11 April 29, 2008 I usually have a bra on till it's bedtime, unless for some reason I'm hanging out around the house in jammies or a robe. But no bra when sleeping ... yuck. Of course, I usually don't wear anything at all when sleeping, unless I'm somewhere where modesty (sharing a room with friends) or comfort (camping at LP when I have a ton of clothes on to stay warm) requires it. But even then I'm not wearing a bra under my sleeping clothes!"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. tigra 0 #12 April 29, 2008 I wear comfy bras but the 12-13 hours a day that I have them on is enough. They need their freedom! I've got a long commute every day and I hit the gym after work almost every night. I leave my house around 8:00 am and I'm rarely home before 8:30 or 9:00 pm. That's a long time no matter how comfy or how well it fits!
