quade 4 #29 May 5, 2008 Quote With respect to these Marvel movies, some points though: 1. Nick Fury is Caucasion 2. Wolvie is Canadian -makes me wonder what's next.... Cap'n America as a Mexican?! Agreed - I like Jackson, but this politically correct crap is for the birds. Jesus was Jewish and Hitler wasn't "aryan". People change the characteristics of their "heros" to fit their world view. AggieDave 6 #30 May 5, 2008 Quote Jesus was Jewish And now he looks like a poor white dude that probably smokes a lot of pot. I can't wait for this movie to come out on DVD with all the extras and commentary. Actually, I'm thinking about watching it again in the theaters, and I NEVER do that (well, haven't since the first Matrix came out).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Conundrum 1 #31 May 5, 2008 Saw it on Saturday... LOVED IT! Awsome movie. And yes, I stayed until the end. You can tell when there is something at the end of credits in a movie because the theatre lights don't come on when the credits roll.
LuvToFly 0 #32 May 5, 2008 Wow... $104 million for Ironman opening, 2nd largest opening for a non-sequel after Spiderman, another Marvel property. Add to that the $96 million for non-US during that time period, over 200 million for an opening. It's really cool that this was the first project that was completely financed by the new Marvel Studios. Look out Hollywood - when the comic book producers have now become the studios. This, in fact is huge news and a pivotal success. And although distribution deals for some future Marvel releases are already penned, there may come a day soon where distribution is also taken out of the hands of the major studios - certainly with advances in digitally delivered content - this would be inevitable. Outside of "independent" films, the major studios have had a bit of a stranglehold on what films get made and distributed. So it will be interesting to see what the future holds in this area. Amazon 7 #34 May 5, 2008 I would LOVE to see David Nivens " RingWorld" come to the screen.. There was a lot of really good content in the whole Tales of Known Space that could be done now that CGI has become less cost prohibitive.

And the Silver Surfer was from Outerspace. Most of those characters did not appear until the late 70-80s. the original super heros are from WWII (and post) to the early 60s.
