i merely pointed a a valid reason for why they might choose to NOT stick stricly to the original character lines

The characters are already created. Mucking about with them is NOT necessary.but was deemed somthing worth doing by the sript writers:ph34r::ph34r::ph34r: take it up with them

Quit pissing in my cheerios. I was simply mentioning that as a Marvel type, I didn't like it when they change character points. :P

With respect to these Marvel movies, some points though:
1. Nick Fury is Caucasion
2. Wolvie is Canadian

-makes me wonder what's next.... Cap'n America as a Mexican?! :S:D:D

Agreed - I like Jackson, but this politically correct crap is for the birds.

Jesus was Jewish and Hitler wasn't "aryan".

People change the characteristics of their "heros" to fit their world view. No surprises there.

Jesus was Jewish

And now he looks like a poor white dude that probably smokes a lot of pot.

:D

I can't wait for this movie to come out on DVD with all the extras and commentary. Actually, I'm thinking about watching it again in the theaters, and I NEVER do that (well, haven't since the first Matrix came out).

Wow...

$104 million for Ironman opening, 2nd largest opening for a non-sequel after Spiderman, another Marvel property. Add to that the $96 million for non-US during that time period, over 200 million for an opening.

It's really cool that this was the first project that was completely financed by the new Marvel Studios. Look out Hollywood - when the comic book producers have now become the studios. This, in fact is huge news and a pivotal success.

And although distribution deals for some future Marvel releases are already penned, there may come a day soon where distribution is also taken out of the hands of the major studios - certainly with advances in digitally delivered content - this would be inevitable.

Outside of "independent" films, the major studios have had a bit of a stranglehold on what films get made and distributed. So it will be interesting to see what the future holds in this area.

?

Nope.

Storm was African (not African American, truly from Africa.) Jubie is Chinese. Sunspot was Brazilian. Warlock was AI. And the Silver Surfer was from Outerspace.

Most of those characters did not appear until the late 70-80s.
the original super heros are from WWII (and post) to the early 60s. Whites only was pretty much the norm for positive pulp literature back then

There *were* some exceptions.... Johnny Rico
Mike
I love you, Shannon and Jim.

I dont know anything about the comic book but I enjoyed the movie.

Any movie that opens with AC/DC and ends with Black Sabbath (ozzy) has, at the very least, cool music. LOL

It never entered my mind that most of that stuff was CGI. That means it was well done.

Totally agree!!!

And if you can't tell it's CGI, then it is well done...That's the way it should be!

Too bad, for some reason, movies are being made with vasts amounts of crappy CGI...

What AC/DC tune did it use?

You're actually incorrect. In the original series Nick Fury was caucasion, BUT in the relaunched Ultimate Universe series the character was actually modelled AFTER Samuel L Jackson. There's even an issue where they are discussing (in the comic) that if a movie was made about them who'd play whom. Nick Fury's character says "Samuel L Jackson, of course!".

I would watch a movie with a superhero portrayed by Samuel L Jackson. I can see it now. "I have had it with you motherfuckers, kiss your motherfucking asses goodbye!" KABLAMMO!!!

He uses "motherfucker" like nobody else can. :D
