My dog, Luka, surprised us with 4 puppies last night. Here are a few pictures. Mama and babies are doing well. She gave us three in a row, and after a while, went back to the well and there was one more.
Three boys, one girl.
American Eskimo miniatures.
Kinda fun to hear whimpering in the night again, except this time I don't have to change diapers.:D:)

Surprised you meaning you didn't know she was knocked up or surprised you meaning you didn't know last night was "the big night"? :D

What's the plan for the little furballs once they're ready for the world?

Surpised as in we didn't expect them for another 10 days or so. Also only expected three, not four. She's a little smaller than other bitches we've had, so figured the lumps were only three.
I guess we missed the breed date, cuz until two weeks ago, we weren't entirely sure she'd taken. It's her first litter, and her personality didn't go through the same changes we've noted in other females we've bred.
These are a fun breed, and this particular sire is smaller and extremely sweet compared to his grandfather (whom we also bred til he was too old for UKC/AKC breed regs). He fell in love w/Monkeyboy when he was out here. Very rare to see him let a stranger get that close.

Failed to add: There are always folks looking for AKC/UKC Eskie minis. Friendly and very family safe breed, and generally, they go to people we know or friends of people we know (for a price, of course). They're a terrific companion dog either indoors or out. Small bit of trivia, first dog trained to walk a tightrope was an Eskie. Very smart breed.

There ARE responsible people out there that will always continue to breed fine animals.

Nice DSE, they're pretty and mom looks proud!
:)

Hey, I wasn't criticising him, just giggling a little at someone that was :P As long as the pups all have happy homes and are spoiled rotten (and with an owner like DSE, I'd be extremely surprised if any of them were treated less than ideally), why does it matter?

Both mom and pups are very cute :)

Ciriticising him? I asked a simple question. If I wanted to criticize him I would have.

Didn't you just get done bitching at me for not "taking you as you are" and misreading what you said?

You might want to try returning the favor.

Thanks! :)

Mini's get to around 15lbs if they're *really* big. My male is around 9 lbs, female is slightly larger at 13. Our last breeding female weighed in huge at a full 15lbs, making them harder to sell at a premium price.

Yes Jenn...they're well-cared for. during pregnancy, the dam has a shaved wood area inside my barn that never is colder than 65, and once she delivers, she and the new pups live inside the house for about 60 days. Very little direct handling by humans. Occasionally we have a puppy fade away, but it's rare.
We've had around 40 of this breed in the past two decades, both as inside and outside animals. They break to a litterbox very easily if you want.:)

You've had 40 of your own?! Or 40 puppies that you've sold?
