moodyskydiver 0 #51 May 8, 2008 Quote Does Tucker's papers have any sort of listing like "SchH" with a Roman numeral I, II, or III behind it? Edit to add: could possibly be VPG instead of SchH I've looked back 3 generations and I dont see any"SchH"s or "VPG"s, but there are several "GER"s and "SZ"s and "NHSB"...whatever all that means.I know that "GER" is the country,Germany, that several of his ancestors where whelped/bred but as for the rest,I'm clueless.Plus none of these abbreviations are in the lists on the back of his pedigree. I'm not used to having such a papered dog.I just thought I was doing a rescue.I didnt know he had any papers at all let alone that he was transported here from out of the US until I went to pick him up.I just wanted a German Shepard, papers or no papers, and since they gave him to me for free I figured he wasnt registered.Boy was I shocked when they told me his background!Hes AKC registered as "Carlomonte's Gentle Thunder"...stupid name but oh well,Tucker suits him fine. Why do you ask? what do those abbreviations stand for?Feel free to PM me so we dont get this thread off track. Almost every one of his ancestors are SchIII, or SchV as well as being trackers, or border guards.

warpedskydiver 0 #55 May 8, 2008 Yes Tyson is Schutzhund trained, unfortunately, he did not compete as I was going through some very difficult times domestically. He still knows what to do, and when to do it. The Vet said something funny yesterday. Her assistant asked why he had to wear a muzzle for his shots. She told her "because he is a real dick, GSDs do not like strangers touching them" Which is a very astute observation, they are loyal to their masters, and have a set of human friends, but for a stranger to try and touch them, or reach for them, is an absolute mistake. warpedskydiver 0 #68 May 8, 2008 I was referring to ScH for life, one step above a III, not a common thing. If I could actually get my hands on his original papers I would have used the proper term.

If you have a dog that snaps at a stranger without provocation, then it is a fear biter and never should have had the SchH to begin with - fear biting is a fail on the behavioral test.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. warpedskydiver 0 #70 May 8, 2008 he does not mind being petted, just not people reaching suddenly or without him coming to them first. The club director said he is fine, and his reservations are normal. The director was a pupil of Bill Koehler, and doing Schutzhund training for 50+ years. Sticking him with a syringe is completely different. Some of the members of DZ.com know him, and he acts quite nicely with them. With Rainbo he acts like a puppy. When someone is aggressive, or has malice etc. he acts accordingly.

There's no such thing - SchH III *is* the highest Schutzhund rating - that's as far as it goes and it's not time-limited. There are FH1 and FH2 ratings that have to do with advanced tracking, and a BH rating that is more of a companion/seeing eye dog qualification. The 'Vorzugliche' (or "V") is a performance rating giving in a working dog show, similar to a 'Best in Breed' at an AKC show, but in regards to performance. Performance ratings: VA, V, SG, G, A. Ratings of M, U or 0 (zero) are unsatisfactory.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
