one 4-way FS fun jump, 3 AFF videos, and 2 tandem video jumps on Saturday overall it was a really busy day at the dz.

Sunday didn't look very nice which was fine because I had planned on taking the day off anyhow to go out on a date... Beth and I went to see Iron Man then got some dinner (at Fazoli's to aviod the mothers day crowds) after dinner I opened the car door for her mostly because her hands were full but also because it was raining and I thought it would be thoughtful... :)
I also called my mom to wish her a happy mothers day...

Saturday it was windy all day so I stayed home and did some chores.

Sunday around 2:00 the wind started to die down. Headed out to the DZ did 2 fun jumps and then we called it a day.

Martin opened up Friday evening to train a new pilot and I didn't have to work in the afternoon so drove down and got a couple in. Saturday was windy. Just one on Sunday after the wind died down.
It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.

One RW Friday with Hobie & his wife and some old dude with a beard who I've maybe seen once before.

Two on Mother's Day; a total UFO solo and then I got into sort of a sit on the second solo. Both on Tandem video loads.
It's called the Hillbilly Hop N Pop dude.

Awesome! my '96 Mazda Protege is approaching 200,000 miles on its original engine. Only 2,700 miles to go! B|

7 tandems in Davis on Saturday. I had a three beers and a shot at our pilots farewell party that night. My gas light had turned on as I pulled into the DZ that morning and my girlfriend drove the car and back to get lunch without getting any fuel. As I was between the DZ and the nearest gas station I tried to pass someone and ran out of gas before I could. The car still let me pass them and then I coasted to the right side of the lane and they still didn't pass me. Once the bright lights came on we figured out it was a cop. I passed the short field sobriety test and two puffs on the Breathalyzer, started up the car and just made it to the gas station.

Sunday I spent with my mom, girlfriend, and sister at the Giants game, and then we saw Made of Honor.

Here's a tandem story from last week. I wasn't on the first two loads so I decided to pack a BASE rig in the hangar while I wait. A guy steps on my lines while taking pictures and I politely ask him to move. He asks me about packing and I explain to him what I'm doing and the differences in BASE and skydiving. I go on to say something like, BASE is very dangerous, I don't recommend it. He asks me about why I do it, and I say that I guess I'm not very smart, and that it's a rush. Another jumper packing nearby says, wouldn't that be funny if he was your tandem student? I look at the board, ask him if his name is Mike, and sure enough, it was. I told him that I may take risks on my own time, but tandems are very safe. The jump went fine.
