ACMESkydiver 0 #1 May 20, 2008 What would you do with it?!?! -Well if we were playing Jeopardy, the question would be, 'How do you feed a family of 10?' I went to the local Cash n' Carry yesterday (it's a restaurant discount market) and bought a 2 foot cubed box of 15 dozen eggs and a box about the same size of Krusteaz pancake mix. That'll fix 'em. We have been buying a 5 dz box of eggs plus an extra dozen per week...and the teens were eating oatmeal every morning (ok correction: their mom was fixing them oatmeal every morning. ). Now we have containers upon containers of oatmeal in the refrigerators from leftovers (WTH do you do with leftover prepared oatmeal?!? ). Last night I made jalepeno bites with the pancake mix -kinda my take on an old recipe. I also made the most amazingly delicious chocolate scones, and chilli with dumplings. We were joking about pancake battering vegetables...and hamburgers...and pancake-battered pancakes. I got 10 pounds of apples, 10 pounds of 'nanas...a paint bucket of sliced jalepenos (yeah we eat that many!)...lessee...a 5 pack of celery hearts...10 pounds of frozen hamburger patties...a gallon of imitation maple syrup...tons of misc fruits and veggies. It was awesome. Mama likes to see full pantries and 'frigerators. Any cool idea on what to do with 50 pounds of pancake mix?! I have 2 'Bisquick' cook booklets full of recipes...I'm going to make a lemon merengue pie tonight! This is surprisingly GREAT for my diet. With so much OTHER food, hopefully those eating machines will leave my diet stuff alone. Now if ONLY we could find a bulk supplier of gluten-free, dairy-free pancake mixes, the boys would be set, too. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. It's great...every phone call we get to the house, whoever is on the other end always seems to say, "Wow, sounds like you're having a party". We just say, 'It's always a party at our house.' ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

Gene03 0 #5 May 21, 2008 Leftover oatmeal? Provided it hasn't soured, mix it in with the next mornings pancake mix. Another option (think hamburger helper) is to add it to hamburger and some ground clove spice, mix well and shape into patties, you have home made Goetta (breakfast sausage). Lot's of personal choices for the spices to put in Goetta but cloves are my favorite. Another use, oatmeal to extend a meatloaf recipe.“The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all is the person who argues with him.
