SkyDaemon 0 #1 January 31, 2006 Greetings. I've recently found myself without a full time position and considering the wonderful weather of the Pacific Northwest, I'm now in a perfect position to continue working on my senior rigger certificate. Is anyone a rigger in the Vancouver, BC area and interested in helping a wannabe rigger get his certificate? I have about 7 pack jobs already and have been reading the rigger's study guide in preparation for the exams. I'm really keen and excited to get my certification and would greatly appreciate the training. Be well -=Raistlinfind / -name jumpers -print; cat jumpers $USER > manifest; cd /dev/airplane; more altitude; make jump; cd /pub; more beer;
riggerrob 643 #2 January 31, 2006 I can write your letter of recommendation to the FAA, and also teach CSPA-approved Rigger A Courses. Rumor has it there will be a CSPA Rigger A Course in Calgary in March or April???? Call me at (604) 488-9714.
teason 0 #3 January 31, 2006 What would the process be to get me my CSPA Rigger"A"? I'm a Senior rigger with a couple hundred packs, back and soon to be seat rated, have packed lots of rounds and squares and have spent time in production and doing repairs at a manufacturer (I actually built my own container, it's in for final inspection right now) I'd like to get the CSPA rating for many reasons, what do I need to do?I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. riggerrob 643 #5 January 31, 2006 QuoteWhat would the process be to get me my CSPA Rigger"A"? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CSPA has a "direct entry" program to simplify the process for skydivers who hold foreign rigging licenses. It starts with you showing your foreign license, logbooks, etc. to a CSPA Rigger Instructor or Rigger Examiner. Then you "challenge" the CSPA Rigger A tests: written exam, materials identification exam and practical packing test. The written exam covers CSPA Basic Safety Recommendations, Equipment Doctrine and common rigging knowledge, 90% the same as FAA or BPA policy. CSPA's RA materials ID exam is the most difficult, more on the level of the FAA Master Rigger oral exam, but if you have already sewn your own rig, you should be familiar with most of these materials. The CSPA practical packing test is very close to the FAA format. The greatest difference is that you will not be approved to repack ALL types of BACK packs after one test. For example, if your packing test includes stuffing a Raven into a Javelin, then CSPA wil approve you to pack ram-air reserves (PD, Raven, Smart, Swift, Tempo, etc.) into 1-pin sport containers (Javelin, Bullet, Vector, etc.). If you want to pack round reserves or Racers, you will have to do a second packing test. (See CSPA's "Type Rating System" for details. Oh, and you have to pay for CSPA membership. This challenge process is the only way to earn a CSPA Rigger rating outside of a Rigger A Course.
