boinky 0 #1 May 30, 2008 I play Scrabble on a web site called The Pixie Pit. It is a Scrabble game where the moves are sent through e-mails, so that you can play at your leisure. I believe it is a $12 yearly fee to play there. Anyone else play there? I would love some new challengers. Post here or PM me if you're interested! Actually, you shouldn't blame it on the site, but the stupid people at your job that block every little thing. Quote Y'all be forewarned.... she's a triple-hog!!!! boinky 0 #7 May 30, 2008 I'll check it out, but I've already paid my $12 yearly fee for the other site. I can find competitors there, but thought it might be nice to play with some fellow skydivers instead, in case some of THEM also are a member of the site I mentioned. Whiskeyboi 0 #8 May 30, 2008 My online Scrabble engine of choice would be http://www.isc.ro/ You can play for free, or pay for a few extras (that you won't need.) It supports multiple dictionaries too (for those of you across the pond.) I love this one because there is just something so Commodore 64/TRS-80/Dos 2.0 about it...reminds me of one database we use at work. I mean...not like I play scrabble or anything. Or have read the OED.
boinky 0 #9 May 30, 2008 Hmmmmm.....interesting. I would prefer not having to download anything to play, though. Is that an e-mail based game, or one you have to sit through all at one time?Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? Whiskeyboi 0 #10 May 30, 2008 QuoteHmmmmm.....interesting. I would prefer not having to download anything to play, though. Is that an e-mail based game, or one you have to sit through all at one time? It's one you have to log into and leave running. There used to be a really good e-mail one in the 90's but it only worked with dial-up. (Damn...showing my age again.) I miss those old e-games. They had a kick-ass version of Battleship as well. If you're into old-skool, bootleg-looking but effective software, I say give it a try. For something that looks like it should be asking Matthew Broderick if he wants to play globalthermonuclear war, it's not bad. (The "send sounds" or "ASCII art" feature is a particular fav. of mine.) Other alternative is to shell out 10 bucks for the older official editions of Scrabble (like 2003). You can play over the net, but not e-mail. Again...not that I have any experience with Scrabble or anything...
boinky 0 #11 May 30, 2008 I USED to play on a site called, e-scrabble, until Hasbro caught wind of them and sent them a "cease and desist" letter. Fuckers! I've tried a few of the boxed versions. They weren't so good. And honey....I doubt seriously that you are as old as I am. Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? pirana 0 #18 May 30, 2008 There is a very good gaming site at Itsyourturn.com Chess, backgammon, scrabble, and loads of others. They have ladders & tourneys, or you can just play whoever you want. No downloads. I think you can make up to 20 moves per day before you have to join. Joining is pretty cheap." . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
