woodpecker 0 #1 January 28, 2006 First, I just finished searching the forums for this answer and granted, there were about 19 pages of LEG STRAP info, none exactly answered this question. Reason for this question is I have a custom rig and the leg straps sinched all the way down would fit TIGHT in the crotch....well, after 3 months of Physio and not able to do alot of phsycal activity, my legs have apparently gotten smaller, or my pants tighter. Now when I sinch the straps all the way its a little snug, but no where near TIGHT. Is this OK, or do I need to have work done on the straps before jumping my rig? Also, I know placement of chest strap after opening might be an issue if straps are too loose, can I hang in my rig to get an idea of chest strap while sitting in the saddle? masterrig 1 #2 January 28, 2006 I would suggest, getting with instructors or coaches at your DZ and seek their help. This, is one of those situations that would be difficult to give advice about over the net. As long as your leg-straps are 'snug' and not falling off when cinched-up, just guessing, I'd say fine. to be sure, I'd have to see you in your rig. That's why, I suggest getting with an instructor(s) at your DZ. Chuck
woodpecker 0 #3 January 28, 2006 Thanks Chuck. I'll actually be at the DZ tomorrow and was planning on doing just that. Just wanted any info I could pull tonight before I go to sleep so I dont sit up all night wondering. Even if I cant get a definite answer on this forum (but really, how many questions posted about gear can) its nice to at least hear recommendations, and ideas. thanks again! masterrig 1 #4 January 28, 2006 You're correct on that! There are 'some' things that can be settled in this forum but, situations like yours are best handled 'in person' with someone with knowledge. I had one customer who cinched his leg-straps so tight, I thought he was going to cut-off blood flow to his legs. He ordered a new rig through me and had me shorten the leg-strap pads so he could get them 'tight'. Good luck to you and glad, I could help. riggerrob 643 #5 January 29, 2006 Sounds like your leg pads are now too long, preventing you from properly tightening your leg straps, which can create a bunch of other problems (i.e. chewing on chest straps). Ask your local Master Rigger about sewing up a shorter set of leg pads. Alternatively, ask your local gear dealer to measure you - as if you were buying a new rig. Order a new set of leg pads from the factory and ask your local Senior Rigger to sew them on.
