jdthomas 0 #1 June 4, 2008 had some fun weather over KC tonight, getting pretty tired of hanging out in the basement these days. Lightning struck the tree next door as well as a tank farm close to downtown and that had some 10,000 barrels of fuel in the tank. I think my weather raido said this was tornado watch 400 something this year, last week in kansas we had 90 confirmed tornados! kbordson 8 #2 June 4, 2008 I went to watch the industrial fire that was started in one of the gasoline holding tanks by the lightening. WAY COOL!!!! (well... kinda hot being a fire and all...) I was watching from about 2.9 miles on a hill so not disturbing the fire fighters... but still cool to watch with the binocs. 1.17million gallons of gas!!!! (about 78,266 tanks of gas) now *poof* gone. I love watching nature!
hobie331 0 #3 June 4, 2008 It sure seems that no matter what the time of year all the storms in this region zip through there. I think God secretly hates KC. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
hobie331 0 #4 June 4, 2008 Last year we were on our way to Skydive Dallas and passed a fire in a refinery at Wyndmere, OK. Lighting strike. You could see it from miles away. The next morning under canopy I just happened to look off that direction and could see a black plume of smoke still rising and I'm guessing it had to be more than 60 miles away. It's a gift, I don't try to explain it.
