Local airmed crash

The local PHI helicopter ambulance crashed today killing all four on board. They were based out of Coulter (KCFD), which is where Skydive Aggieland is. After all those years out there at that DZ I got to know these guys. They were always ready and willing to help out a jumper after a hard landing to make sure everything was ok. They were even really great about not taking off until all the canopies were on the ground.

Although they did shake their fists at me when I dropped in next to their helicopter and the neighboring hanger for a swoop. They weren't really mad at me, thankfully.

Although I didn't know the three responders on the helicopter all that well, what I knew of them was that they were nice people and cared greatly about their job. Emergency responders tend to stick together.

That's some bad news. We have friends up here that fly on those. They are great people and do some great things. What a tragic loss in Texas today.

Damn, i heard the news yesterday and where they were going and wondered if they were the ones based there. Sad news, i only talked to a couple of them once when i was there. Some great guys.

That's the second one in as many weeks. Last week one in Michigan went down on the roof of a hospital.

This hits home for a lot of us, the wife of a local jumper works for PHI and its hitting her VERY hard! As all of down here are in the EMS/fire/first responder field, it feels like family even when you don't know them personally
