tigra 0 #26 June 9, 2008 So I spent the weekend at the dz, sweating, watching the wind blow, the clouds close in and the rain fall. No jumping, more beer drinking than I am used to these days, and lots of bad for me food, but all in all, a pretty good weekend! I started my day/ week with a 45 minute walk, picking up my car from a local mechanic. And I'm heading to the gym in about an hour for an upper body workout, plus cardio and abs. Legs tomorrow with the trainer, Zumba Wednesday night, then probably cardio and full body on my own Thursday. I do really well most weeks, Monday thru Thursday but weekends are my downfall, especially now that I'm trying to get my butt to the DZ more often-but why pay for a trailer I don't use, right? MrFreefall383 0 #27 June 9, 2008 Been working out everyday since I arrived here at Station Gloucester, although this weekend was filled with family visits, so I haven't worked out at all. And the next two weeks are going to be a struggle to find any time to work out at all because I'm qualifying on comms and standing some strange hours on watch. I guess I'll figure something out. But I've been running on the treadmill, lifting, doing all my pushups, abs, the usual business plus some, and I'm definitely gaining muscle mass. I guess joining the Coast Guard did change me."If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
ACMESkydiver 0 #28 June 10, 2008 Quote Well, I had one big challenge I wanted to do this year cycling, and I did it yesterday. Congratulations! But the year is only half over, Remi. ACMESkydiver 0 #29 June 10, 2008 Quote Nice ride, Remi, way to go! My fitness update for the weekend is that I managed to not melt at Skyfest. Half of me wanted to get on the scale this morning just to claim all the water weight that I lost... but that would be cheating. I was joking that any measurements for new gear or suits that the manufacturers took this weekend needed to be adjusted by 1/2" to 1" for water weight loss. It would suck to get your new stuff back home and think "why is this so damn tight? Oh yeah, they took measurements at Skyfest. Damn!" No proper exercise this weekend, but just staying upright and hydrated at Skyfest was a workout. Managed to eat reasonably healthy (for a boogie, anyway). Nice to be back home in comfortable temperatures, and I'll be back at the gym tomorrow, I think. Glad you had fun and didn't let the boogie derail your efforts too much! ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. ACMESkydiver 0 #30 June 10, 2008 Well 5 good days to 2 bad days isn't a bad ratio! Yesterday my food intake: 3 different healthy snack bars (that was unintentional; I was out & about WAY more than I figured I would be, and I ended up eating all of my snack bars because I didn't have ready access to anything else.) Seafood fettucini alfredo -homemade. YUM. I took a small portion. A whole bag of sweet peas. A bite of my neice's chocolate rice krispie treats. -Ok, ok...I had a bunch of bites when nobody was lookin'. 1 diet latte flavored WW ice cream bar. TOTALS: Calories: 1428 Fat: 45g Carb: 200g Protein: 62g Carbs total was too high. WORKOUTS: Pretty good for a broken-down ol' girl! I did a 30 minute abs class in the morning...ugh! Then 12 minutes on the treadmill at the gym's second location waiting for a 'Centergy' class to begin. Centergy is that location's term for PIYO...pilates/yoga...the only difference is they have more of a routine to music. I'm sore today, but I'll be in the upper body class tonight and might even continue on with step and lift after... I put the babies on their buses this morning then went back to bed and slept until noon today with a few wake ups. Can't get going, but that's my fault. Forgot my thyroid meds yesterday, worked out hard, and I'm wiped out. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. Shift work was a definite bugger when I was in the military. I was able to do some calesthenics while on shift; but that was due to being a radio operator in a remote station out in the middle of nowhere with no visitors at night. McBeth 0 #32 June 10, 2008 Well as expected Skyfest ruined my diet and workouts, but I got right back into healthy eating and working out the moment I got back. I've even been resisting the mini Snicker bars in my cube all day and I only had one yesterday. Before Skyfest I was eating about 4 a day. Did step and abs yesterday, turbo kickboxing tonight and a Hip Hop class planned for tomorrow!
tigra 0 #33 June 10, 2008 Quote Well 5 good days to 2 bad days isn't a bad ratio! Well, its more like 4 days to 3 since I almost never work out on Fridays! I did enough of an upper body workout last night to feel sore today, and I know tonight's workout will be another good one. BUT, some evil person decided to bring in a gigantic chocolate cake from ClaimJumpers. I had to have a small piece. I couldn't eat it all, but I think I did enough damage with the little bit that I had.
Remster 30 #34 June 10, 2008 QuoteNow you have to set another challenge. Already done: Tour of Tucson in platinum time (less then 5 hours for 109 miles) Oh.. And I lost 5 lbs in the last 2 weeks, for a total of 15 total now, since Feb.Remster
mnealtx 0 #35 June 11, 2008 Well, my weight is cycling back and forth between 210-208, but I'm back on track with my exercises. I've noticed that my "pinch an inch" seems to be getting a bit smaller...I'm not gonna gripe about that! Since I'm on night shift and have to do regular equipment checks, I do a set of exercises when I go back in the back. I match the effort/speed of the exercise to my breathing cycle (isometric stuff) as a benchmark for consistency. It lets me get my exercise in 6 days a week, keeps my metabolism up during my shift (instead of sitting slug-a-desk)... seems to work so far.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. RALFFERS 0 #36 June 11, 2008 O.k. - a bit of a more detailed update... My upper body (abs) is doing alright; depending on the machine I'm on I can generally do 3 sets of 50 reps - lifting 30 lbs. I do this on 4 different machines in a row. I also do 3 sets of 50 crunches. My shoulders seem to be the strongest - 3 sets of 75 reps, at 60 lbs. While arm curs are currently 3 sets of 50, at 50 lbs. Same goes for my upper back, but lower back I'm up to 75 lbs, with 3 sets of 75 reps. As for leg strength - it really depends on the machine/exercise. Seated calve press; I can do 3 sets of 50 reps at 90 lbs. Upper leg seated press is 3 sets of 50 reps, at 40 lbs. Leg curls are the hardest by far, and nothing to right home about... - 3 sets of 10 reps, at 20 lbs. That's my entire work out. Maybe it;s not the best in the world, and I'm not where I wanna be yet..but making progress. I'm feeling content with the results thus far; hopefully, improvement will show through in the tunnel... NWFlyer 2 #37 June 11, 2008 Back to a normal eating and exercise routine yesterday and today. Hoping I can make that scale budge again. Sigh. Gym felt pretty good this morning though I did wuss out at 35 minutes instead of my planned 45 minutes. I'm still damn tired, I guess."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J.
