ACMESkydiver 0 #2 June 6, 2008 This morning I got a PIYO class in (that's pilates and yoga, for those of you not up on gym lingo! ) Tough class, but my friend Bobbie said she'd be there, so I wasn't going to let her down! Afterwards I did some variable settings on the treadmill. 2%-4% incline, 3.4-4.1mph for 31 minutes. My heart rate wasn't screaming...woo-hoo! My cardio health is getting better. I did another fit test 2 weeks ago, and I tested ok. That's an improvement, because the first test I took in February came out 'poor'. I'm on a mission to eat some natural growing things today...thanks to a helpful PM. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. punkd 0 #11 June 8, 2008 Quote Nice lift, nice run, nice calisthenics! Congrats! Can you explain a little bit about 'Crossfit'? Crossfit is a type of workout program. It combines alot of different things from weights, cardio, plyo's etc.. and all work outs are at high intensity. Everything is pretty much timed and you try and complete the workout as fast as possible with little to no rest between sets. edit to add todays workout. Was supposed to be a rest day but I felt like doing something. June 8th. Crossfit Workout of the day scaled 1/2 5 rounds for time 12 burpee's 12 pullups 7:
warpedskydiver 0 #12 June 8, 2008 All I did was the treadmill today for 20min @ 4.5mph Then a set on every piece of equipment in the center. I am getting old and slowing down, but I make the most of it. Of course some pain meds before exercise helps.

Remster 30 #18 June 9, 2008 Well, I had one big challenge I wanted to do this year cycling, and I did it yesterday. Climbed Mount Lemon (the mountian that frames the North side of Tucson) yesterday. Took my time on the way up, and considering I did a 60 mile ride the day before, my legs were ok for the most part. Took just over 3 hours on the way up, and about 1h on the way down. 6,000 ft ascent.Remster

Remster 30 #20 June 9, 2008 Yeah. Its called Summerheaven. Little village, mostly expensive summer homes where people go to to escape the heat in summer, but quite a few people live year long too. And there are a few places to eat (dam that blueberry pie was good! lol) After the first couple hours on a long ride, I can't eat anything, so it is strictly liquid diet all day long. Looking at the ride profile, it looks like the climb averaged 5%. Is that correct?"There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. Remster 30 #22 June 9, 2008 Yep... Not terribly steep overall, and no very steep parts either... I could had pushed a bit more, but I already had 60 miles in me from Saturday, and I'd never done Lemon, so didnt want to explode.Remster
ryoder 1,590 #23 June 9, 2008 Here are the maps/profiles for Mt Evans. Click on the "Course Map with Profile" link for the PDF of the course. http://www.bicyclerace.com/coursemap.htm About 30 miles with ~5% average grade. But the altitude is what makes it really interesting, finishing >14,000'. And you need to start the ride early so you don't get caught by the afternoon weather going to hell. I know a guy who made the mistake of not wearing full gloves, then also made the mistake of getting caught in afternoon weather, so he had the unpleasant experience of his hands freezing numb while he descended on a road icing over. NWFlyer 2 #25 June 9, 2008 Nice ride, Remi, way to go! My fitness update for the weekend is that I managed to not melt at Skyfest. Half of me wanted to get on the scale this morning just to claim all the water weight that I lost... but that would be cheating. I was joking that any measurements for new gear or suits that the manufacturers took this weekend needed to be adjusted by 1/2" to 1" for water weight loss. It would suck to get your new stuff back home and think "why is this so damn tight? Oh yeah, they took measurements at Skyfest. Damn!" No proper exercise this weekend, but just staying upright and hydrated at Skyfest was a workout. Managed to eat reasonably healthy (for a boogie, anyway). Nice to be back home in comfortable temperatures, and I'll be back at the gym tomorrow, I think. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please.
