ACMESkydiver 0 #1 June 16, 2008 I'm posting so all of you can say what fine things you have done...'cause I haven't done shit. I have a ton of excuses. My truck broke down. AGAIN. Exhaustion has been taking over. AGAIN. Blah blah blah... Still I got to the gym today and did a pretty good workout. Yesterday, nadda. Friday, I walked into town but my sis-in-law drove me home, so that was only 2 1/2 miles. I guess that's 2 1/2 miles more than if I had sat around on my ass though. Went to Red Robin on Friday...so I blew it on my eating. Yesterday too. Today wasn't so good. I didn't record anything at all because IT ALL SUCKED and I don't want to see how many thousands of calories I blew past my goal by. I didn't even weigh in this morning because I just can't handle seeing that number. Ah wells, fuck it. It will be better this week. No more birthdays, no more dinner out with friends, etc. This week I'll undo all the horrid stuff I just did. So how are all y'all doing? ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
Nightingale 0 #2 June 16, 2008 Down five more pounds since last check-in. I've been doing agility classes with my dog, which seem to be just as much exercise for me as for him, and eating less junk food on the weekends. It's easy to eat well while I'm at work during the week (I snack on hard candy if I'm desperate for sweets), but it's a lot harder at home, but I've really made an effort to have fresh fruits and veggies, and that's helped a lot. Edit: annoying thing... the new jeans I bought a month ago are now too big and slip down my hips. It seems I have jeans in my closet that are too big or too small, but nothing that's just right. I feel oddly like goldilocks. Can anyone recommend somewhere to shop for jeans that 1) don't cost an arm and a leg and 2) fit women with hips who aren't plus size? I seem to be able to find jeans that are either cheap OR fit right, but not both, and since I'm losing weight, I can't afford a $75 pair of jeans from Express every four weeks just to have a pair that fits! RkyMtnHigh 0 #4 June 16, 2008 Welllllll...Flag Day is my birthday..so I cele-ma-brated! Thank goodness I'm not a sweets-person so I didn't indulge in dessert. I've been a good girl on food choices and even on the alcohol consumption as well. I enjoyed the outdoors and scenery and socializing...that's about it. aresye 0 #5 June 16, 2008 I've been doing CrossFit, and just started the zone diet a couple weeks ago. Of course I totally blew all that by eating crap, and getting trashed last night. Of well, my best standings still are: Pushups (2min): 103 Situps (2min): 85 Pullups (Max): 15 1.5mi Run: 10:29 Those are pretty crappy scores compared to my buddies. I don't really want to lose weight though. I could take off some fat, but if I'm 10-20lbs lighter, my wingloading will go down :(Skydiving: You either learn from other's mistakes, or they'll learn from yours. sartre 0 #7 June 16, 2008 Well, I haven't been working out or dieting...just eating healthy food and parking my car at the end 6of the parking lot. I've lost 6 pounds and my size 6's are getting baggy.....I've also been taking the stairs instead of the elevator, and considering I visit about 5 patients a day who live on the 2nd floor or higher, that turns into quite a workout. I love seeing definition in my butt and abs again!

Congrats on the weight loss; sounds like fun doing agility with your pup! My suggestion on the jeans is heading to a second-hand store. Seriously. If you're losing weight, but are intending on losing more, why blow so much money on between clothes? You can find a bunch of designer stuff at used stores (sometimes they still have the tags on them! I got a $200 cream-colored designer wool business suit with the Nordstroms tags on for $20) and you're not spending a mint. -Besides, after you wash a pair of jeans once, who's going to know the difference if you were the 'original owner' or not? As for jean brands that fit the curves...you might want to check out Liz Claiborne. I'm still in her plus sizes, but I wouldn't be surprised if her typical sizes have a nice shape for smaller curves, too.~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. tigra 0 #12 June 16, 2008 My new favorite jeans are Lucky brand which you can get at Costco for anywhere between $20.00 and $40.00. I've also found since I've lost weight, my curves have "relocated". Low rise jeans tend to work better for me these days, BUT most low rise jeans with the stretch denim will start sliding down my hips within an hour or two of putting them on- my Lucky jeans don't do that! And anything with a high waist line tends to be really really baggy around the bootay area.
skybytch 273 #13 June 16, 2008 I did a few 12 ounce curls yesterday, and I'll likely do a few more this evening. Me and the dog will be going for a walk after lunch, and then I'm going to the store to buy 3 pounds of Jelly Bellys and 10 big Cadbury's Dairy Milk Bars. And some ice cream. Five sleeps til we hit the trail. It's carbo load time.

ACMESkydiver 0 #16 June 17, 2008 I'm no fitness guru. That's painfully obvious. As for yesterday...well, with the truck STILL in the shop, I road my neice's bike into town with my sister-in-law. My neice's bike only has one gear (the rest are stuck). It's a high gear, so you're pedalling 500 times to get like 10 feet. Then there's the seat issue. The seat is set too low so your knees come up too far and it's like riding an old BMX bike. Too much pressure on the quads for any distance. Then the seat itself is tiny. MINUTE. Itty-bitty, and hard as a rock. I was in so much pain just going the 4 1/2 miles that we went...pedalling killed your quads and those little ligament things on the inside of your knees...coasting killed the quads because you're trying to stand on the pedals somewhat to relieve the agonizing pain from the tiny rock lump that was supposed to be a seat. So I bought me a fluffy, padded, cushy touring bike seat at Wally World. -'Course, I have no bicycle to put it on yet, but anyhoo... ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. tigra 0 #19 June 17, 2008 OK- subtext here but don't tell anyone ----- my lower body (legs, hips, bootay etc) is shaping up nicely but I still have more belly fat than I would like. That means pants that fit well around the waist tend to be baggy around the hips and butt. I always used to be pretty well proportioned (hourglass curves) whether I was in a "fat" or "less fat" phase but the older I get, the tougher it is to firm up and get rid of the extra weight around my waist! When I got done, they were totally bloodshot with a dried crust of tears around them. I was awake most of the night because of the burning and itching. I think the problem is that the new photochromic shades I'm using have those stylish small lenses that arc over the top of the cheekbone, as opposed to the old ones I had used for years, which were a much larger and looked a lot like ski goggles. The CO air is so dry and dusty, that you need protection from the wind, and not just the sun. I'm going back to the old ones."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
sunshine 2 #25 June 19, 2008 Someone at work told me yesterday that i look much smaller...that put a big smile on my face. 2-3 weeks ago i started a killer lower body workout routine. I alternate days - i either lift weights and do upper body or do my lower body. Of course i still do my cardio 4 times a week too. Well it has made a huge difference. My current clothing size is starting to feel loose, and i think i'll lose a size in another few weeks. My arms are still flabby, but i can feel the muscle developing underneath the flab. Overall since starting this whole thing around the end of sept, i feel so much healthier, i have much more energy, and i'm emotionally happier too. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug!
