BIGUN 1,483 #2 June 19, 2008 Were you born there? Did you attend UT or A&M? Look at your feet... got boots where the heel is worn and there's no shine anymore? Got a straw hat that is all curved up and misshapen What you got hanging from the mirror in your truck? Got a rifle rack? Dip Copenhagen? Git yur butt back to Georgia, boy. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

boinky 0 #4 June 19, 2008 Quote Were you born there? No, but I got here as soon as I could! Quote Did you attend UT or A&M? No, but I live 1 mile from A&M. Does that count for anything? Quote Look at your feet... got boots where the heel is worn and there's no shine anymore? No, but I do have some boots that need shining! Quote Got a straw hat that is all curved up and misshapen No, but I've got several A&M caps! Quote What you got hanging from the mirror in your truck? Ummm....a gps cord. Quote Got a rifle rack? No, I could get one. Of course, I guess I'd need to get a rifle too? I DO have an A&M sticker in the back of the window, though. And my license plate's first three letters are ATM! Quote Dip Copenhagen? Where's the puking emoticon? If I gotta' do that crap to be a Texan...I guess I DO need to go back to Georgia! Quote Git yur butt back to Georgia, boy. Dang........ AggieDave 6 #5 June 19, 2008 Nope, because its "yall" not "y'all." "Y'all" is what a southeast southern says, it has a beat in it instead of "yall" which rolls without pause. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #9 June 19, 2008 Quote But...but...but...I live in Texas. With a Georgia Tech plate on your truck? AggieDave 6 #10 June 19, 2008 Ok, a test then. No googling, no cheating. Why is 1836 important? What was said right after "Remember the Alamo?" Why is the Morrill Land Act important? Who was Lawrence Sullivan Ross? How about Earl Rudder?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
boinky 0 #11 June 19, 2008 You find me (other than you) a born and raised Texan, random off of the street, who can answer those questions without cheating and we'll talk! boinky 0 #12 June 19, 2008 Quote With a Georgia Tech plate on your truck? It's not a Georgia Tech tag. It's a plain 'ol Georgia tag. If I were going to pay for a special tag, it would be a bulldog tag! Please note the front tag and the antenna ball! But the tag letters are still ATM. I think I should get a few points for that! AggieDave 6 #13 June 19, 2008 I'm not a born and raised Texan. I was born in Virginia. Air Force brat and my dad was the USAF representative for some sort of G14 classified post with the Navy at the time. 1836 is the year Texas gained its independence from Mexico. Next you'll tell me you don't know about the battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. That's why Aggie Muster is held on April 21st of each year, so that Aggies can gather together where ever they are to remember the Aggies that past away during the previous year. "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad!" The full battle cry at the battle of San Jacinto. Lawrence Sullivan Ross was a general in the C.S.A who was also a president of TAMU, he is the one who set TAMU in the direction that it has become today. He's also a former governor of Texas. His family also founded the little town of Waco. The Morrill Land Grant Act established schools all around the country, including the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas and Prarie View. James Earl Rudder is a famous Texan who lead the Rudder's Rangers on D-day. Ever seen "Saving Private Ryan?" Tom Hank's character was apart of the 2nd Ranger Battalion, aka Rudder's Rangers. Actually I bet you would be surprised at the number of Texans who know a lot of that information. There's a certain amount of pride that goes along with our country...err, state of Texas.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." maxmadmax 8 #14 June 19, 2008 Gosh Damn Aggie Dave, You post some pretty accurate stuff! I am a sixth generation Texan. We arrived under Mexican rule and you know the rest of the story. BTW are you going to the deadmanboogie.com ? Are you an Anvil Brother? Are you a Texas Anvil Brother? Ciao baby, Mad Max Don't go away mad....just go away! I have to warn you that I haven't done a non-tandem terminal skydive in over a year, but I'll be happy to do a canopy dive with you. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Are you a fucking history teacher or what? I've been here all my life. UT class of '86 myself and 2 kids at A&M at the moment. I have no idea who these guys are.But since my office is 1 block from the Alamo I know a little bit about that: It's where the Battle of the Flowers parade starts during Fiesta week....right?. AggieDave 6 #17 June 19, 2008 Quote UT class of '86 myself Well, that explains it. Nope, not a history teacher but a student of history. I'm a big believer in knowing the past so you know where you are and where the future is going. Although my specific study of history in college centered around Russia from about 1895 to 1965 with a specific focus from 1922 to 1939. All in all, that's really interesting. Either of your kids in the Corps of Cadets at A&M? If so ask to see their Cadence book, that'll gloss over some of the bigger historical items about Texas.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." mamajumps 0 #23 June 19, 2008 Texas is ok...Lived there for 6 yrs and graduated from TTU, my oldest child was born there... Texans have the attitude that there is only one state and the rest is just land that borders Texas...However, I lived in West Texas, so that explains my low opinion. I would go back, but definitly not to West Texas... Its definitly a place of its own...
