Thanks There!

The R/C truck is a blast..

Actually I've alot to keep my busy, Getting my house ready to either rent out or sell, moving in with my fiance, getting hitched, and going to Jamaica for a week. Not jumping until August actually sort of makes sense.

I forgot to mention all the cool new stuff I had done to my Harley, too. (New seat, pipes, air cleaner, saddlebags, handlebars, grips, mirrors, etc.....)

I had a discectomy and fusion of C3-4 and C5-6 on March 20 -- almost 4 weeks ago. I took pain meds for the first 2 weeks, and now I'm almost pain-free.

I have to wear a hard neck collar until my follow-up with the surgeon on April 21st. They'll do an x-ray at that time, and hopefully the fusion will look good and I can get rid of the collar/go back to driving.

I had a hemolamenotomy on L-4/ L-5 on March 3rd. They removed the part of the disc that was encroaching on the nerve channel and they removed part of the bone that was pressing on the sciatic nerve. I can't say what the outcome is yet, but the pain is almost gone. Thank God for Oxycodone!!!! I thought I had a high threshold for pain until this occured. Very humbling experience. Pain has a way of making people do things they never thought was in their realm.

Just got clearance to go back to full activity - Including jumping !! WooHoo!
Won't be for another couple weeks though, waiting for my Cypres to show up then drag all my stuff to the local rigger for assembly. I'll prolly start with a few hop-n-pops.
Yeah Baby!!!

.

Oh, also, as the one nurse said, putting off surgery for as long as possible seems to be the recommendation of people "in the know." My wife worked as a Physician Assistant in a pain management clinic, and she said the majority of their patients where from failed back surgeries.

I went to a sergion 8 years ago, he said he could fuse or replace my lower two discs, but he then said " i dont want to do it, go away and do what ever it is you can to avoid me having to " so im still avoiding him, and 5 years later I started jumping, Im good at pain management :-)

Congrats to both of you now being pain free and back in the air :-)

I had my 3-month follow-up on last Monday. The surgeon said everything looked good, and I didn't need to see him anymore. I asked him when I could skydive. He said to wait 3 more months. I wasn't surprised -- he's always said 6 months from the surgery.
