ACMESkydiver 0 #1 June 29, 2008 My dad bought a Honda elite scooter in 2000 from a woman that hadn't licensed it in 8 years because she only rode it on her ranch, not on the road. Dad has a hand-written bill of sale for it from her. He called the DMV near him (Long Beach, WA) and some lady told him that he would have to pay the license and registration and lost title fees, and then he would ALSO have to pay the license fees for every year in the past that it hadn't been licensed. That's BS. Never heard of that crap before. I can't find anywhere on DMV's page about this stuff. -Any ideas? Daddy is going to give me the scooter if I want to pay to get the license and title squared away. He said he's ridden it once in 8 years, and it's getting dusty sitting in his garage. And when I told him about my electric bike/motorized bike dilemma, he said I can have his scooter if I can figure out and pay for the title/license issue. (Yippee! The lady that sold it to him over 8 years ago either isn't there any more or is unreachable. So all we have is a hand written bill of sale to my daddy... Thoughts? I'll call DMV tomorrow, but just wondering if anyone has done this kind of lost title/registration stuff on a vehicle before and has an idea of the best way to do this??~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. Snowwhite 0 #3 June 30, 2008 I know of a lady who licensed a car in Illinois after it had been "rebuilt from parts" No license for many years, but had to be taken to a licensing facility in Peoria for proof of rebuild. squirrel 0 #4 June 30, 2008 investigate a lien sale, for a vehicle that is left behind or abandoned. but now that the DMV knows of the purchase, it may no fly. i would try to take with a supervisor...maybe offer to pay the non-operational dues...should be less. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him? I could take it to Oregon but being a WA resident, I don't think they'd allow that.~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
