Sky Diving: There are lots of places around the world where you can go skydiving safely. Even though all first dives are tandems, I'd rather stay onboard the aircraft or just stay firmly earthbound. Check out this girl's experience where the reserve had to be pulled.

Base Jumping: Thankfully very few people will ever seek out the opportunity to base jump. Base (Building Antenna Span Earth) jumping is definately beyond the danger levels of skydiving, primarily because you have so little time to deploy your parachute between jumping off and hitting the ground. If that isn't bad enough, base jumpers are particularly prone to winds blowing them back into the structure from which they jumped.

I think the author should do some more research and ... STFU! >:(

There's the link to the contact page. Perhaps we should all send the author a link to this page:

I sent the author a message:

Your article "10 Completely Insane Activities Probably Not Covered By Insurance" should be "10 Things That Frighten Me That I Am Completely Ignorant About" ... If you want to be an author learn to do some research.

Other than the word "thankfully", which implies a judgement call against the activity, what else is wrong with that BASE synopsis?

B.A.S.E. jumpers aren't prone (having a tendency or inclination : being likely) to winds blowing them back into the structure from which they jumped.

They're one hell of a lot more prone to it than non BASE jumpers!

i would much rather get hurt skydiving un-insured (although mine covers it), then get hurt doing something lame and boring like driving a car, insured.

Why in the world would that be? I'd rather not be hurt at all, but if I have to suffer an injury, I'd rather it be covered by my insurance than not covered.

OH MY GOD.... it's TOTALLY INSANE. They linked to a video where they had to USE THE RESERVE!!!!!

I missed the reserve??

I did enjoy the human catapult video. I can't imagine why it wouldnt' be covered by insurance.

You don't see them cutaway, just a really snively opening that eventually had to be chopped. Check the canopy they come in under - white and orange, it's a Strong reserve.

100ft Bridge Jump: This is exactly the sort of fun which will end in tears and likely a trip to the ER with a plunctured ear drum.

Hmmm...there a lot of ear drum plunctures happening these days? Credibility immediately goes out the window when you can't even spell. Get a dictionary...or try spell-check, you douche...:):P

sorry i was watching the wrong video yesterday. I watched the correct one today.
I like the comments. If that is sunrise i'd be really discouraged from doing that as I'd have to get up too early or some shit like that. WTF over

Okay, maybe "prone" is a bad word choice, but it's certainly an additional danger that BASE jumpers face which is not a problem with traditional skydiving. In that respect, it's a true statement.

Except the author did use the word prone and didn't compare it to skydiving. In that respect, it's a false statement (the whole article is littered with false statements).

I just upped my insurance coverage costs and basically had to confirm or deny if I have participated in about half of these, including jumping. Luckily they asked if I had done it within the last years and not if I was planning on doing it again soon.:)
